(Day 0/1) I left America exactly 9 days after my birthday, at around 5:30 that day, and drove 4 hours to the Atlanta International airport. The flight left at 12:30, and was 13 hours long. I watched 5 movies and ate 3 in-flight meals, all of which were not so good. I could not sleep for the excitement of being in Japan overwhelmed me. We arrived at Narita International airport at around 3 and drove 2 hours to Narashino. When we landed and got onto the bus I was really in a state of shock and awe. I could not believe I was actually in Japan. There was a Welcoming party in Narashino where we met our host families. I had two host families who would each keep me for 1 week. My first host family consisted of a Husband and Wife, Otou-san and Oka-san, and a son and daughter, Onee and Ototo, and a Grandmother Oba-chan. These are the words for Father, Mother, Big Sister, and Younger Brother. After the party we immediately went to a store, I don't recall the name since it was in Japanese and at this time my knowledge of this language was strictly speech, Oka-san wanted to buy me some popular Japanese snacks to try. After the short excursion we drove to their home, they lived in a sectioned off Area consisting of two buildings, which is extremely rare in Japan, the buildings one being a traditional style home containing a Shinto shrine where Oba-chan stayed, and a modern style house where Oka-san, Otou-san, Onee, Ototo, and I stayed. We ate a light dinner, I don't quite remember what we had for dinner but it was Delicious, which is a word I will commonly use due to the fact that the food in Japan was so good!
