Dan's POV

I help Woody, Will, Kyle and the rest of the crew load up all of the instruments and supplies that we'll be needing to continue on our tour into the  bus.  As I am doing so, I look up and see Caela and Mary standing together, both of them trying to sort out where to put their luggage.  I smile, my heart swelling with affection.  It's strange to think that in such short notice people as special as them can just show up in our lives and change everything.  Before, we were just a band on tour-- playing gigs, meeting fans, and then moving on to the next venue.  But now, we actually have people to play for, and we're traveling around the world together.  Incredible.

I still have my doubts, though, about the decision that they made to come with us.  What about their jobs, their families, their friends?  Are they willing to just up and leave everything they know to travel around with a bunch of blokes that they barely know?  Caela has assured me more than once that their jobs as journalists are flexible enough to travel and still give them work; in fact, they encourage it, since the extra travel offers more interesting stories.  Their friends and family apparently don't meet up until around Christmas each year, allowing them to do what they please in the mean time.  I found spots for them to sleep and live on the bus, and they seem to have been more than happy to oblige to the cramped living quarters.  So why do I feel so apprehensive about the whole thing?  Because you're scared they'll regret it, my mind tells me.  It's true.  I don't want them to make such a big choice and then decide that it's not what they wanted after all.  But I need to quit worrying about the future and live for the now, considering that everyone seems well happy and we've got a tour to get on with.

I throw the last of the items into the trunk, including both of the girls' luggage, and slam the door shut.  I turn around, surveying everyone.  There are about 9 people in all, including Mary and Caela.  It's a bit of a push, but we'll just have to roll with punches.

"We ready to go?" I say.

Everyone nods, and I look at Caela.  She has the biggest grin I've ever seen plastered to her pretty face and she gives me a quick thumbs up to relay her enthusiasm to me.  I chuckle at her evident excitement and turn to open the door to the massive, yellow, two-story bus that we'll be driving in.

"And we're off!" I here Woody shout, and Kyle replies with a catcall and a couple 'whoops'.  Here we go.

Caela's POV

The ride there is long but fun.  At first we aren't sure about what to do, but then things start to loosen up a little and we all begin to interact.  Dan, Kyle, Mary, and I all play a game of cards together, kind of a couple rivalry thing (cheesy, I know), and Dan and I end up winning.  I am feeling good after that, so I challenge Woody to a game of slapjack.  It's a relatively easy game, so I thought I had an advantage, but it turns out that Woody is fast.  And he has big hands, so I basically have no chance of actually winning.  That brings me down from my high horse of victory, so I settle on spending the rest of the time watching a movie with Dan.  We eat through half of the first season of Twin Peaks, since I've never seen the show.  Apparently it's Dan's favorite, and I finally understad the meaning of the song 'Laura Palmer'.  But man it's creepy.  Towards the middle of the third episode, I find myself practically sitting on Dan's lap from anxiety.

He laughs and says, "Here let me make it a little more comfortable."

He arranges his body so that his legs are on either side of me, his back against the wall.  He draws me back into him so that my back is resting on his chest, my head against his shoulder.  His long arms wrap around me, and I am safely enclosed in a little cocoon of arms and legs.  I sigh and snuggle deeper into him.

"Better?" He asks, his deep voice vibrating throughout my body.

"Much." I say, hearing the smile in my voice.  Eventually, I fall asleep towards the end of the sixth episode, still encased in Dan's embrace.

When I wake up, we're at the next venue, Dan lightly shaking me.

"Hey you.  We're here."

I blink the sleep out of my eyes and look out of the window.  It's later in the evening, probably around 7 or 8, and we're in front of a large building.

"Um, where exactly is here?" Mary asks.

"Lansing, Michigan, by the looks of it,"  says Kyle, and gives her a little wink.

My heart warms at the sight of them together.  With that thought, I turn to Dan, entwining our fingers.  He lifts a hand to brush a stray hair from my eyes.  I smile up at him.

"Better get out there.  You've got loads of adoring fans awaiting you're arrival." I say.

"Or I could just stay here with you and we could pick up where we left off..." Dan's voice trails away and he bends  his head to plant kisses along the curve of my neck.

I giggle and struggle push him away, my own muscles turning to mush with the feeling of his lips against my skin.

"Not so fast, mister!  You've got a gig to play."

He rolls his eyes and says, "Ugh fine, but just this once.  Next time you won't get off so easily."

My heart gives a tiny flutter at his flirtatious threat, and I jump a little when I hear Will bark, "Oi, love birds!  We haven't got all night you know!  Lets go, Dana Banana."

I crinkle my nose at Will's rather strange nickname and raise one eyebrow in Dan's direction.  He just shrugs and steps out of the bus.

I follow everyone into the venue, falling in-step next to Mary.  She gives my arm an excited squeeze.

"Can you believe this?!  Our first gig as the official 'girlfriends' of Bastille!  We get to watch from backstage and everything."

I open my mouth to protest, but then shut it again.  It's just now sinking in that Dan and I are 'together'.  I hadn't exactly thought of it like that before, but it seems right.  My veins course with excitement, and I squeeze Mary back.

"I know!  Lets just try not to mess everything up, ok?"  I joke.

She laughs, and we enter into the venue through a back door so that no one can see the band's arrival.

"I'll try my hardest!" She replies.

This is it, what I've always dreamed of, and I get to spend it with my best friend, too!  Unreal.  Everything seems so blissfully perfect, but little do I know that there is more to this life than just love and excitement.  When one chooses to date the main singer of Bastille, one must endure the consequences...

That was a bit of a random chapter, I know.  It was also a pain to write, but I promise the story will move a lot faster after this.  Keep reading to find out what kind of 'consequences' Caela has to endure in order to stay with Dan!
