"Strike two!" Grace rearranged her stance and held the bat firmly in her hand. She watched closely as the pitcher swung the ball towards her. Grace swung the bat and hit the ball with a loud smack. The crowd of parents and siblings that didn't want to be there cheered. Grace dropped the bat and ran around the field. First base.... Second base.... The coach yelled. Grace looked around for the person who had cought the ball, only to find her friend... Ish Gabriel, holding the ball in her hand. With that sly face that Grace hated. Grace let out an angry grunt, and walked back to her team. The game was then over. Grace walked over to the bench with her backpack on it, and walked out of the field grumpily before Gabriel could brag about her victory. Grace was walking down the block, when exactly that happened. "Heeyy Grace!" Grace rolled her eyes hearing the voice come closer and closer. Grace walked a little faster. "Hey slow down!" A slightly deeper voice said. 'Damnit' Grace thought. It was Gabriel's boyfriend, Clark.. or one of them anyway. Gabirel always threw herself at any boy she could, and the sad part, it always worked. Gabriel also had a tendency of cheating on her boyfriends. Grace had always tried to stay out of that, she didn't believe in dating that much. Love was a distraction. Everyone in her school would call her 'grandma'. A nickname that Gabirel had come up with. Gabriel ran up beside Grace, Clarks arm around her. "Did you see that catch that I got?" "Yep.." Gabriel put on that annoying look again. "Aww Comon, is somebody being a sore loooooser?" "Shut up Gabriel." Gabriel's face became serious again, so did her voice. She gave Clark a signal to go away, he listened. Gabriel walked beside Grace silently, and re- adjusted the bag on her shoulder. "Hey, something wrong?" Grace answered sarcastically. "Maybe, what do you think?" "Listen it was just a joke." "Yeah alright." Grace answered flatly. "Anyway, I didn't just come here to bother you." Grace remained silent. Gabriel continued " You know that camp that you've been going to for two years?" Graves eyes widened, she had never told anyone about that camp. Not because she was embarrassed, because it was the one place where Gabriel would not start a drama, or always be better than her. Her emotions quickly went from worried to angry. "How do you know about that?" The two girls reached the corner of the block, waiting for the buss. "Comon' Grace, you leave me alone in your room and expect me not to look threw your things?" Grace opened her mouth to say a whitty comeback, but realized she should have thought the same. "Fine, but what about it?" A smirk crawled along Gabriel's face. "Weelllll.. I asked my parents about it, and now I'm going to!" Grace had expected the worst and it has happened. "WHAT?" Grace said a bit to loudly. "Yeah! Isn't it great!" Grace, as furious, scared, and anxious she was, tried to make her face look pleased, but it came out as a crooked smile. "Yeah!" Grace said trying to sound exited. The buss arrived at the stop and the two girls climbed in. "I guess.." She mumbled. When they both sat down, Gabriel rambled about all the " fun" things that would happen at the camp. "WE CAN BE BUNK BUDDIES!" Gabriel said over exited. Her hazel eyes looked like they were about to pop out of her head. But Grace wasen't listening to a word Gabriel was saying. This is how things always went. Grace would be interested in something. And Gabriel would find out about it. This would be fine if Gabriel didn't some how make everything a competition. And Grace never said anything, why? Because Grace, although being pretty well known in her school, and well respected.. most of the time, was a push over, a pretty bad one too. Grace always thinks that's the cause of her popularity. She would never say anything, cause she was afraid of the reaction she would get. But she never publicly addressed this issue, she would hate people to know her weakness. Although, the whole school probably knows by now. The bus stopped, and the doors opened, " Gabriel stopped her rambling. "This is your stop, right?" "Yeah." Grace got up quickly and walked towards the door. "I'll see you at camp, bunk buddy!"
"Yep.." Grace replied, trying to hide how annoyed she was. She walked to the front door of her house and unlocked the door. She looked back at the bus that was about to drive off, to see Gabriel's face pressed against the glass with her hand making a "call me" sign. Grace stared at the weird sight for a moment and than waved slightly as the bus drove off. "I'll just have to keep her tamed.. hopefully."
Grace said as she walked into her home.
