Chapter 1

Emily Harper, your average girl. You may think she would be fifteen or sixteen? No, this story starts when she is just 6 years old. A little girl in the first grade, going home to her mum and dad crying.

Her first day of first grade wasn't how she had expected it. She thought she would be happy, excited to be out of prep. Unfortunately, her first day was the start of what was yet to be known, her story of depression.  She walked into class, put her books down, and the first thing that happened was the twins, Charlie and Carter Mathews, tipped her off her chair. She landed on the ground with a thud, an electrifying jolt sent up her spine. The boys just laughed and sat down in their chairs. All the others were laughing too, which may not seem such a big deal to us, but to a first grader its enough to make you cry.

After getting back up on her chair, the twins got her again. Charlie pulled on her braids, and Carter punched her in the back of the head. The teacher saw nothing: heard nothing. It was as if she didn't care. Emily turned around and screamed at the top of her lungs,

"STOP IT YOU LITTLE TURDS!"
The boys were shocked, but so was the teacher, who was now storming across the classroom. Her stubby fingers grasped Emily's ear, and she was ripped out of her seat and out the door, right to the principals office.

The rest of the day was like this too. Emily came home with a split lip, grazed knees and bruised arms. The boys at recess and lunch had been tripping her over, and pushing her into things with such a force you would think they were on steroids. Every day was the same for her, but those days turned into weeks. Weeks turned into months. Months turned into years. 3 years to be exact. Grade 4 was the first time a teacher noticed the boys, but it was too late. Emily had been to another school to look around with her parents. Goodbye Henvale, hello Marysview.
