Tyler headed down the stairs, skipping one ever step. His mood was over the top and he couldn’t be happier! Well, most of the happiness he had before faded. The guilt he felt when Xavier told him how he was going to break a promise did fill him up a bit but, not enough to not go on his date. This was his third date with Chrissy and she’d been the one to ask this time. Tyler couldn’t miss this chance to finally make his relationship official.
When he made it to the front door, Tyler took a deep breath before walking out of that house. Something to shake off his nerves and guilt to look good for later. He grabbed the knob of the door and opened it with ease. When the rush of cold wind hit his face, Tyler was set back. He blinked a few times before wrapping his scarf around his neck.
“Well, it is almost winter…” He said as he headed over to his car. He could see his breath in the air and knew that he should hurry. He didn’t want his poor girl freezing at the park.
Tyler speed through the roads, trying to avoid as much traffic as he could. He saw the all the lights were already up, from red to blue to green.
“It’s not even December yet and people already in the spirit?” Tyler commented to himself as he looked for a parking spot. Somehow, he found Chrissy sitting on a park bench, holding on tightly to her tan coat. Tyler was also lucky enough to find a parking spot right in front of her. After checking if everyone was ready, Tyler stepped out and walked over to Chrissy with a smile.
“H- Hi, Tyler.” She said, her nose as red as Rudolph’s. Tyler frowned seeing how Chrissy has been waiting outside in the cold.
“I’m sorry, Chrissy. It was traffic and-“
“No, it’s okay. I’ve only waited a few minutes. Really, I’m fine.” She reassured, and then a confused look was on her face. “Why is your arm behind your back?” Tyler’s smile grew wide as she moved his arm to show what it actually was. A box wrapped in bright red wrapping paper and a big green bow on top.
“An early Christmas gift. For you.” He told her. Chrissy’s cheeks now matched her nose.
“Tyler, you shouldn’t have. Really, you didn’t have-“
“But I wanted to. Take it as an um, apology gift. You know, for being late.” Chrissy laughed but still took the gift. She observed it for a little then looked back up at Tyler. He knew what she waited for. “Go ahead. Open it.” Chrissy smiled and started to unwrap. She looked like a little girl and Tyler couldn’t help but chuckle.
“Oh Tyler, it’s beautiful!” Chrissy shouted as she held up the dress. Tyler nodded as she gave her a kiss on the cheek.
“I’m glad you think so.” Chrissy went from bright pink to deep red and Tyler couldn’t surpass his laugh.
“Let’s just get going, okay?” She pouted and Tyler nodded a smirk on his face. They walked side by side in silence. Suddenly, Tyler felt the warmth of Chrissy’s hand in his. “So, what are we going to do?”
“Whatever you like. You should know that.” Chrissy giggled as she nodded.
“I do but, I need some help picking!”
“I bet something’ll come to you.” Chrissy sighed as she looked at her surroundings. There were trees, benches, squirrels; nothing that’ll help her chose something. She sighed once more until she heard laughter. But, it wasn’t from Tyler. It was a kid. Then another, and another. They were from kids nearby. She tugged on Tyler’s hand and followed from where the laughing was coming from. She ended up standing in front of an ice skating rink.
