Desperation was clouding the sky and fear was penetrating the walls of their home.
"Amabelle!" Achilles ran to his office, where he knew his wife and son were.
As he opened the door and saw his beautiful wife holding their baby in her arms he let out a sigh of relief. They were safe for now. They still had a bit of time.
"What is it?" She asked, her voice was silky , it was a trick almost. How naive and innocent it sounded when she herself, was strong and anything but that.
Achilles quickly embraced his family and grabbed Amabelle's hand so she would follow him out of the room.
Amabelle squeezed her husband's hand and tightened her grip on her son.
She knew what was happening and she couldn't help the fear that turned her stomach.
"They're coming, Amabelle. You and Percival are going to hide, I'll hold them off, okay?"
Tears were clouding her vision but she blinked them away as they came to a stop in front of a bookshelf that lead to a hidden room.
"Amabelle, whatever happens, don't leave the room, don't make any noise and don't come out. Take care of Percival when I die."
She nodded and kissed her husband with so much love, so many feelings were poured into that short kiss.
"I love you."
"I love you too"
That was the last time she saw him.
In that small room, little Percival and his mother stayed for a short time until she heard it.
"Avada Kedavra!"
A sob escaped her throat and she couldn't breathe any longer.
She listened for more but nothing came. It was over.
Slowly, she moved closer to the door, her baby boy still in her arms.
"Come out, come out, wherever you are" a singing voice was heard close to the room.
Amabelle backed away from the door.
It wasn't over.
Percival moved in her arms and she quickly turned to him, "it's okay my baby."
Then she placed him on an old basket in the room.
"Hush now, my baby. Be still love, don't cry. Sleep as you're rocked by the stream. Sleep and remember, my last lullaby. So I'll be there when you dream."
She didn't finish the song, her voice wasn't working anymore and she could hear footsteps down the hallway now, searching for them.
He was sleeping now and she stood up, and walked towards the door.
She knew what she had to do to protect her son. He couldn't be found.
When she walked out, she waited in the hallway, wand ready and soul ready for what she knew was her last moment.
"Found you."
"Expelliarm-"
"Avada Kedavra!"
It was over.
