A Captured Butterfly

Prologue

   Steven awoke with a start, panting in a cold sweat. Bright lights shone down on him, making the boy squint to protect his eyes. He brought a hand to his eye which had been blackened by Jasper, rubbing the swollen area. Scanning his surroundings, Steven found himself in a jail cell, guarded with a sheen field of electricity. Where was he? Memories slowly drifted back.

The ship.
His shield.
Garnet.

   "Garnet!" He repeated his thought aloud. Jolting upright, he sprang to his feet, desperately searching for a way out. Steven quickly found no answer, only the electric wall guarding his freedom. Deciding it was worst a shot, he squeezed his eyes shut and prayed that it wouldn't kill him. He reached a finger out to touch the gate, instantly being met with an electric sensation.

   "Cool!" The boy exclaimed, noting that he was not in fact hurt, and that the energy passed through him, as if he were a circuit. Steven plunged his arms through the wall of energy, feeling his body shock as he walked through.

   "I'm out!" He looked back at his cell, and sure enough he was in the hallway outside it. "Woo Hoo!" The victory was short, as the realization that he was on Peridots ship sunk in. His expression dropped, as he knew that his other friends were on here too. Determination filled the young boy. Steven took it on as his personal duty to rescue his friends, and that is what he would do.
