I kept struggling hard to run I felt as if I was going to give up but something inside me grew stronger and now I could run as fast as I can, the pieces of the leg braces started to break and now I was running.
I was running so fast not even the bully’s on bikes had caught up with me now that I was telling my story to the lady she was smiling “Now you wouldn’t believe me if I told you, but I could run as fast as the wind blows, and from that moment on, I was running, I ran from home all the way to town which was a far distance” As I passed the barber I heard Fred say “Sure, that boy is running” I ran to the shops, past the park, through the bush eventually in the next 4 hrs I got back home.
The next day after school I decided to run to Jenny’s house because she didn’t go to school today, she lived on a farm with her dad and her momma had made her trip up to heaven when she was 5, her father is a very loving man he was always kissing and touching her and her sisters and there was one time when she wasn’t on the bus to go to school “Jenny why didn’t you come to school today?” and she replied looking at the crops “Shhh Daddy’s taking a nap” then out comes are drunk man which was Jenny’s father looking for her.
“Jenny! Jenny! Where you at!” scared by her daddy’s voice she grabbed Forrest’s hand and runs further into the garden while her dad isn’t long behind they finally find a secret place and Jenny goes on her knees “Pray with me Forrest, Pray with me Dear God, make me a bird so I can fly far, far far away from here, Dear God, make me a bird so I can fly far, far far away from here. Momma said God works in mysterious ways, but he didn’t turn Jenny into a bird instead he had the police say Jenny didn’t have to live in that house anymore so he sent her off to live with her grandma who only lived on Creekmore Avenue that was only 2 mins away which made me happy.
Some nights she would creep into my room, because she was scared of her grandmas dog, he was a mean dog. Since then everything was normal and it was now that we are in Sophomore (senior school) and I was on my way home again and the bullies came after me again but this time they didn’t have bikes, they had a car but with no license and all I did was run and Jenny kept yelling “RUN FORREST RUN!” I kept running and running until I turned into a football field in the middle of the game, while they were playing I had interrupted and everyone was looking how fast I was running, the coach asked “Who in the hell is that?” “Oh Him? He is just a local idiot” “Hey, isn’t he Forrest Gump?” and you may not believe it, I got to play football, I was offered a position in the Alabama NFL team, my colleague had passed the ball to me and I sure hella ran and everyone was cheering and screaming, coah kept yelling “You stupid son of a bitch! Run! I ran and scored a try for the team. When I graduated I had got a college degree for all the hard earned A’s momma was so proud.
