Chapter 2

I shoot up and out of my chair, unable to keep my overwhelming happiness contained. Ryan squeezing my hand reminding me to be nice I sit back down and apologize to my parents, my dad had made his way over to standing behind my mom, his large hands on her shoulders, they tensed on her small shoulders when he noticed my reaction. Ryan looks over to our parents apologetically asking if they were actually serious. They nod, and smile at us, almost happy to see the relief flooding our features. Can you say awkward? She looks around and starts talking again."I just love what you have done with the place. I am so surprised the place is still in one piece." "Well you've not ever been around to see the house so you wouldn't know.' "Taylor!' Ryan yelled at me. "What? I mean I guess I'm happy to see them since it's been a couple of months, but you can't pretend like you hadn't wished this was happening the entire time!" Ryan starts to say something when my mom interrupts us "Ryan, it's understandable that she is upset, she is right and that's why we are doing this, we are just hoping that whenever you guys are older you can forgive us." I ignored the second half of what she said and asked how long they would be here for and my mom says "About 4 hours, we were hoping we could have dinner together and then Ryan can take us back to the airport?" Ryan nods silently. I should have known they weren't going to stick around for awhile.

I start to cook dinner for everybody, something simple so I decided on spaghetti and meatballs with green beans and a salad. It is 7:15 and my parents are walking to the car, Ryan behind them to drop them off at the airport. I turn the stereo on that we had installed throughout the house in the living room on and blare Josh Turner's- Just To Be Your Man, I press the genius button on my white iPhone and it makes a playlist of similar songs, setting it to shuffle I start singing and dancing along to the music. .
