The rest of the day went without any hiccups, after school I was planning on going over to the Hatter's house so I could try on the dress had Alice made, although it made no sense to me, Alice loved making me clothes she always wanted a Daughter, she had been making them for me for years I thought she would have had it down by now. Which she does she just likes seeing me in them.
When we got there Issic walked inside and shouted. "Mom she said she'd go." The house was small and none of the seating matched, the walls were painted all different colors, and fabric laid all over the place but it was clean, no matter how odd.
Alice loved to pick up after her husband and watching him work, she always found it fascinating how he could see such small details that she could never point out. She always saw the bigger picture but over the years of being married to him she has learned a little, that's what I loved about Issic he got both of it, he paints and he's good at it like really good. I loved being here, at this home, its just crazy enough for me to forget that this whole city hates me and half of them use to be villains, which scares me more. This was home and it was a great one, I never really felt at home with the fairies, there always so different and half the time one of them is following me around cleaning where I walk. With mops and brushes.
Alice came running down the spiral stairs with a dress bag, she stopped in front of me unzipping it slowly, revealing a beautiful grey dress with a large yellow ribbon for a belt. I grabbed the dress and walked down the hall to the bathroom and pulled on the dress. Without any words but a blank expression on my face, because this whole room of three people knew I didn't want to go.
As I walked out, Alice shrieked, "daring you look beautiful."
"You really do Princess." Issic said starring at me as I sent him a glare.
"Wait, I have the perfect thing." Mr. Hatter came running in with a large hat box making me nervous. Reluctantly I opened the box, which held a rather small grey bow, I tied my hair back and placed the bow in.
Alice smiled and leaned forward whispering to me, "I always did want a girl." Reminding me again, she pulled back placing a hand on her son's shoulder. "Honey would you stay for tea."
"Of course I would love to." I changed out of the dress and ten minutes later we all sat down around the small table ready to hear a story from Mr. Hatter, like we always did.
"Son have you ever heard the one about how the beast kept his magic. " Hatter asked but continued with the story before Issic could answer. "When everyone lost their magic, Mr. Beast could still change from man to beast at will, no one understood why beside your dear old dad of course, but they were all convinced it was the beast that took the magic. So one night Belle and him left, no one heard from them. They were just gone.. They reappeared, living back in their house no questions asked." Hatter finished taking a sip of his tea, I wanted to ask more, know more. Why did he get to keep his magic, where did they go, why did they return? But alas I knew I could not because after Hatter is done telling a story he is done telling the story.
"Honey tell them why he kept him magic." Alice said, and I silently thanked her.
"You see, the Beast received his magic from a witch, not a real witch in fact the same witch that took out magic and turned Pinocchio into a boy, which did not get reverse either. The magic can only be returned once the curse is broken just like with the beast, but I just can't figure out how to break it, must be the curse." The room stood silent except Hatter sipping his tea.
"Well thank you all so much for the dress and the tea, but the fairies are expecting me home for dinner, I cant be late. But I will come over again to help get ready for the party if that's alright." I said standing up.
"Of course dear, the party is in one week, please remember." Alice said walking me to the door, I nodded and started my long walk home. Which today seemed longer, as my mind was wrapping around the events that had just taken place, the story was running over and over again in my head. How could someone that really didnt have magic in the first place keep it, it was just a gift from a...star.
