Violet Hamish Watson-Holmes was born on March 23rd, to Claire. The newly wedded husbands had used both their sperm in a new trial, to try and get the baby to look like them. Claire didn't want children, but enjoyed giving unable couples a chance to be parents.
When John heard about Violet's birth at four a.m, he woke his husband. The two sped to St. Bart's, barely able to be patient while the nurse went to get the baby.
While the nurse was away, John and Sherlock made talk with Claire.
"This was very kind of you, Claire. Sher and I can't tell you how grateful we are." John says.
"It's really no problem. I've never wanted my own children, you know. But I love helping unable couples." She replies, smiling.
"Out of curiosity, how many children have you given birth to?" Sherlock asks.
"That's hardly your business!" John scolds.
"It's a question I get a lot. It's okay. This would be my seventh."
John tries to hide his astonishment. He knew that sometimes first time mothers plan on giving away the baby, and then end up attached. But this lady had seven and didn't keep any.
"Alright, which one of you is the father?" The nurse asks when she brings in Violet.
"Both of us." John replies, "But let Claire hold her first."
"No thank you John. I gave birth to her. That's enough for me." She laughs
The nurse hands the baby to Sherlock. He is afraid at first. Such a small human being. So fragile. But after a few seconds he relaxes.
The baby had Sherlock's black hair, and John's eyes. Under the fat cheeks, Sherlock could tell that she'd have his cheekbones. She had Claire's nose, but that was okay.
John holds Violet, cooing over how beautiful she is. The nurse says that she is perfectly healthy, and if they sign the paperwork and everything, she should be able to go home in the morning.
Sherlock and John take turns thanking Claire for allowing them to have a proper family, and for delivering a beautiful healthy baby.
In the morning, after everything is filled out and the carrier is put into the cab correctly, the new family head to their home.
