The accident

Chapter 5

Sorry everyone my last chapter was way to confusing so I decided to re do it please don't be mad.

"Colten how long have I been gone?"

"About 6 hours why."

"Oh shit, coach is going to kill me."

"DAMIT, I totally forgot he said to call him if I find you."

As he goes to grab his phone from his pocket I grab his hand.

"Please don't call coach, he'll want to talk about what happened, I can't tell him Colten its to hard."

He pulls his hand away from his pocket and stands up. He extends his hand ready to pull me up. As I stand up I realize how weak I am. Before I know what's happening I fall into Colten's arms

"Wow Oso you way more than a cow!"

"ha.ha.ha, how do you know what a cow weighs."

"Touché"

As he pulls me back up on to my feet i can't help feeling that as long as Colten is near me I will always be safe.

As we ski down the mountain the cold dry wind hitting my face as I race down the hill I feel a little bit of joy rise in my body. Once we are at the bottom we start walking toward the lights of the ski village in the distance. As I walk on the street lit by the street lights I start to think about what Jacqueline said.Who was this guy who wanted to hurt me?Why would he want to hurt me? As I keep walking not watching where I'm going I bump into Colten. His body is ridged and he's standing up straight.I grab is arm and look over his shoulder to see what's wrong as I squint my eyes I see a dark shape in the form of a person standing just out of the light. As I try to get a closer look I feel Colten push me behind him. He starts to back away I try to push myself away from him but he continues to block my way. He suddenly turns around and throws me over his shoulders. I can't say or do anything I just lift my head and watch as the shadow slowly retreats back into the darkness. Colten continues to run I have no idea why and I start beating him on the back and kicking him frantic to get loose.

"Oso I'm not the enemy please calm down."

"What the hell are you talking about, I know your not an enemy."

He slows down, he places me back on my feet and I slap him. My hand hurts from how hard I hit him, when he turns toward me there's a giant red mark in the shape of a hand on the side of his face.

"What the hell was that for Oso."

"You threw me over you're shoulder"

"Yes because I needed to protect you"

"PROTECT ME FROM WHAT, DAMIT!"

"Oso I need you to calm down, I can't tell you right now I'm sorry you have to trust me."

"What the hell are you talking about Colten.

I look up at him and I see fear once again return to his eyes. As I look up at him pleading with my eyes begging him to tell me the truth I remember what Jacqueline had said about someone trying to hurt me.

"Colten when I saw Jacqueline she warned me about someone trying to hurt me."

He sucks in his breath tension returning to his face.

"Oso did she say if he was here."

"Yes she said I had to be careful because he was here."

"Oso I need you to stay with me and to not talk to anyone you don't know."

"Why, why what is happening Colten, what has scared you so much and why am I in danger."

"Oso I can't tell you no matter how much I want to tell you I can't, if I told you I it would break whatever is left of you."

"Colten am I in danger?"

I ask to scared to know the answer.

"Not as long as i'm here I promise you Oso I wont let anything happen to you, as long as I'm alive I will protect you."

He pulls me close to him and keeps murmuring

"I will protect you" over and over.

As I stand there in his embrace I try to understand everything that's happening when out of the corner of my eye i see the shadow. I can tell he's watching us, I don't know why or how but I feel like he's what Jacqueline was talking about. As I try to turn and get a better look it retreats back into the darkness again, this time I can tell it has left for good.

As Colten and I walk down the road again in the pitch black the road only lit by the tiny street lights I continue to look around me looking for the shadow.
