Chapter 8. Evalutation and a diet change.

I don't know how long it's been but eventually I wake up to the sound of footsteps coming into my room. I hear a husky male voice say "No, you need to stay out here while I evaluate him. Your just gonna scare him even more" then the police officer from Market Basket said "We need to come in" and the husky male voice said "I can't evaluate him wth you guys in the room. And no one else will either. So it's either stay outside and let me do my job, or let this poor boy stay stuck in this room and not be evaluated" the officer snaps "Fine!" And storms off.

When I hear the door close I sit up and look at who came in. It was a doctor. He has brown hair and brown eyes wth a pale skin tone. He was wearing the usual doctors coat but was also wearing black pants and a shirt that I'm not sure what shade of blue it it. He looks at Curtis and says "Hey, Curtis"
"Hey, Gabriel. Finally became I doctor I see" Gabriel nodded and said "Yep. Been a doctor since last year,  just transferred here"  Curtis smiled at me and said "Gabriel is a good friend of mine, he'll take good care of you" Gabriel walked over to me and said "I'm Dr. SawBones. But you can call me Gabriel" he then looked at Curtis and asked "Is he your son?" Curtis nodded and said "I adopted him a few days ago"
"What made you decide to adopt?" Gabriel asked, Curtis just looked at me and said "Do you want me to explain everything?" When I nod, Curtis pats my knee in a comforting way and then starts to explain everything to Dr. SawBones.
"Erik's parents were murdered almost two years ago. Ever since then Erik has been living by himself because he has no other family. Erik is a student in my class and has been acting out a lot. When I figured out his parents were dead I decided to adopt him cause I felt bad for him. I knew Erik was a good kid, and I wanted to prove it. He just needs love. I'm still trying to make him gain some weight cause he is severely underweight" Dr. SawBones placed his hand near my abdomen and said "May I?" I just nod and he starts to feel my abdomens through the hospital gown. He frowned but kept feeling.

Once Dr. SawBones pulled his hand away he said "You are right, he is severely underweight. But I know a few foods that can fix that. I also know a good diet to help him and it's all healthy"
"Great! Curtis said enthusiastically.
"One food is great for healthy weight gain. Though eating it often can turn healthy weight gain to unhealthy weight gain. There is such a thing as too much of a good thing. But anyway, the food is chicken Alfredo. It has calcium, protein, and carbohydrates. He can have two big bowls a week. He should also have snacks in between meals. Try giving him a smoothie twice a day. Add a frozen banana and a spoonful of peanut butter to the smoothies. Make him snacks with nut butter." Dr. SawBones said,
"Can I have sun butter?" I ask. I remember one time when I was eleven my dad bought sun butter and he made me a sandwich with it and I liked it better than peanut butter.
"Definitely. Seeds are another thing you should be eating and if you like sun butter than go ahead and eat it" Dr. SawBones said. I smile and he goes on with the diet.
"Another thing he should eat is fish. I know that quite a few kids like Erik..."I glare at him when he calls me a kid,
"Don't like fish but like tuna and tuna is a great snack for him to have in between meals. So if he likes tune then make him a tuna sandwich with lettuce and tomatoes for a snack. Fruit has great healthy calories that he needs.  For lunch try giving him fruit salad and give him dried fruit for a snack. As for vegetables, go for the starchy ones like sweet potatoes, corn, and peas. You could make homemade sweet potato fries. And cereal is good in this diet. Give him cereal for breakfast and when he doesn't have cereal for breakfast give it to him as a snack."
"Does this mean I can eat lots of Honey bunches of oats?" I ask, Dr. SawBones smiles and nods.
"How many snacks should he have in between meals?" Curtis asks Dr. SawBones,
"Hmm, I'm not sure" he then looks at me and says "Please remove your gown" I blush and shake my head furiously.
"If I'm going to get your diet correct then I need to see you without the gown on" Dr. SawBones says, I rub my arm nervously and Dr. SawBones says "It's okay, you don't have anything I haven't seen before"
