Have you ever wondered what happens at night in the town of Starryshade? In Starryshade curfew is midnight. No one knows for sure why. There are many suspicions but none have been proven. Every citizen below the age of 14 is supposed to be in their windowless rooms at midnight. If you were 15 and older you had "the upgrade" which was a room with windows and you have to have your blindfold on at midnight. If you weren't in your room or didn't have your blindfold on and saw outside you would disappear. It just happened two days ago. Abigail looked outside and no-one has seen her since.Many people stopped asking for the upgrade after that. I asked my mom when the last disappearance was. She replied, "Well. I believe the last one was when I was about your age. One of my closest friends disappeared". She suggested that I not get the upgrade.
"What was her name?" I asked
"I'm not so sure. Well I guess I'll tell you his name."She said in a contemplating like voice.
"Wait it was a he?? How close of friends where you? What do you think would've happened if he wouldn't of disappeared? Would you have married him? I wanna know. Please?!" As I leaned forward she sighed and noted her head.
"His name was..." She paused as if she knew someone was listening. She went to the window and closed the curtains. "Follow me. I'll tell you we just can't talk here". She lead me into the basement.
" Why couldn't we talk in the living room? Why did we have to come down here. We don't ever come down here anymore." I asked as she shut the door.
"There are many reasons I never talk about my friends. One reason is that Jackson didn't disappear. He is hiding. I don't know many details. He wanted to tell me what he saw but I was reluctant. "
