Chapter 3

Avery's POV:
Ever since that awkward "I love you" thing with Caleb, things between us have been a little strange. And I hate it. This was what I was worried about, me liking him but him not liking me back. I sigh and try to re-collect my thoughts.

I get a text from Anna (my bff) asking if she wants me to come over. "Sure!" I reply. "Will Caleb be there?" She texts back almost instantly. "No..why?" "Oh I don't know, just wondering. Be there in a few!"

Thank god Caleb wasn't coming. Even though I really like him, I needed some free time away from him with my best friend. Not having Caleb around to worry about made things a little easier.

I pack up my stuff and head over to Anna's. She recently moved, so now I can pretty much walk to her house. "Mom! I'm going to Anna's house!" "Ok honey have fun!" I walk outside and proceed to her house.

"Ah, this feels so nice" I thought to myself, as the cool breeze sweeps through my hair. I had no idea what I was about to get myself into.

Ding dong!
Anna opens the door right away. "Avery!" "Anna!" We laugh and I give her a big hug.

"How's your summer been?" I ask. "It's been ok, but I'm happy your here now. Care for some cookies?" She says. "Sure!"

"Oh, Logan ( Anna's older brother ) made them so you might wanna check for bugs before you eat them." We both laugh. Speaking of Logan, I notice him sitting on the couch staring at me. I smile and give him a small wave. He waves back.

"Well, let's eat these!" I say. "Mmmmmm these are amazing dude!" I say a little too loudly. "Yeah? Well I'm glad you like them. Anna seems to have a different opinion on my cooking" he says. I laugh.

He then gets up and gives me a hug. "I missed you!" " I missed you to" I say smiling.

Logan has always seemed to be somewhat into me, but I never really payed attention to him. All my focus was guided towards Caleb. But this time, I did notice him.

Man, puberty hit him like a bus! He had amazing shaggy brown hair, brown eyes, and the cutest smile.

But what was I saying, I liked Caleb right?! This was all so confusing and new to me.

The last time I saw Logan, he was a completely different person. I mean, since Caleb doesn't like me, maybe he will?

No no no. I can't.

I suddenly realize all this time Logan and I have still been standing there looking at each other.

I quickly move away and go back to talking to Anna.

Out of the corner of my eye, I can see Logan still staring at me.

but....I kinda liked it.
