"Where are you going?" I asked. I wiped the tears away from my eyes. My words stopped Jacob right in his tracks. He was walking away. "I'm going on ahead." "Your leaving us." I said. He didn't answer for awhile then said. "Yes." I walked up to him. "Why?" he didn't look at me. "Because... I don't wanna be a third..." "Bull! You think we'll hold you back." no response. He tried to walk away but I grabbed his shirt. "I'm right?" "Yea. Look I'll get around faster and worry less if I go solo." I punched him in the gut. He felt down on his ass. He didn't look fazed by it. He just had on a blank face. "Idiot. If you die you die for real you got that! Your family knows I'm with you. If you die I'll be held responsible." he smiled at the ground and got up.

"Is that your argument?" I found his smile a lil disturbing. "I'm not gonna die. Not easily that is. I'm a beta tester. I know what's to come and I'm not worried." he gave me a pat on my shoulder. "Now you, I'm not worried about you. Your as good or even better than me." His happy-go-lucky expression faded. He look at the ally where Roxana was sitting, not crying no more. "I know I don't need to say this, but protect her. Make that your top priority." he let go of my shoulder and opened his menu. After a few clicks a lil screen popped up in front of me.

I accepted it with no hesitation. I looked over at Roxana and saw that the same screen popped up in front of her as well. She accepted it as well. I gave Jacob a bro fist before he ran off. "Later!" he yelled at me. "Later you prick." I walked over to Roxana and sat down in front of her. "How are you feeling?" she crawled over and me and lened on me. "I'm better now."

For awhile we just sat there together. She was so scared and so was I, but I need to be the strong one and get us through this. I stood up and looked down at her. "Alright, let's go." she looked confused at first but then understood and got up with me. We walked around the town. There now some players there out and about with expressions of fright, anger, and sadness.

We walked to the nearest weapons shop and looked around. Thanks to this afternoon's hunt we had some money to spend. I bought a two handed long sword and Roxana bought a wooden long bow and a dagger just in case she runs out of arrows. "Well now what?" Roxana asked. "We're heading to the next town, ok." she nodded and followed me without question. I patted her head and smiled at her and she smiled back. "Hey. we're gonna be ok, ok?" "Ok."

A month later

"Haaaaaa!" I let out another battle cry for no reason. I cut down another wolf. The first floor is usually full of wolves and boars so after awhile it's not a challenge. It's only on quest that they mix it up and get stronger. I looked over at Roxana. "You good?" she had her bow pointed at me. "Duck." she ordered and I obeyed. An arrow went through my hairs and into a wolf's stomachache. It burst into lil crystals. We got some col but the XP could be better. I sheath my sword away on my back and sighed. "Not even a challenge anymore." "Come on, let's head back into town."

We sat down in the cafe in town. "So are we gonna go to the meeting?" Roxana asked. I put down my coffee. "Nah." "What do you mean 'nah'? They're planning to clear the first floor. This could benefit everyone." "I know but it seems like too much." to be honest I'm trying not to push my .... Our luck. My main propriety is to keep her safe. I don't know what the boss might do. If she dies.... "Hey? You heard me?" Roxana was snapping her fingers in my face. "Huh? What?" "I said weren't you the one saying earlier that the monsters weren't a challenge anymore? Are you ok?" I gave her a big smile. "I'm fine don't worry."

"Frost!!!" that's my girlfriend. We turned around and saw Jacob. He looked good. No homo. His armor has improved same as ours. Instead of leather armor like before, we all had metal armor chest plates. "Hey guys, what are doing here?" he smiled at us. I gave him a bro fist. "Not much just chilling." "What are you doing here?" Roxana asked. "Picking up some healing items for the raid." "You got called for that too?" my girlfriend and my friend went back and forth. "Yea all the top players so far are gonna try to beat the boss. You guys are going?" "No. Zero said we should let them handle it while we relax." "Those weren't my words." "Well I'm going. Think it'll be fun." he grinned.

"There is a possibility you may die and you think it's gonna be fun?" I questioned his idea of fun. "Well I'm not worried. My level ain't half bad plus I'll have a bunch of other people to back me up so yea. I think you guys should come too." he right though. If we go we'd have a bunch of others to back us up. Roxana is an archer also so she'll be at a safe distance. As long as Roxana is ok then I'll be fine. "Fine. We'll go."

We walked to the boss room as a party. Me, Jacob and Roxana we just a small party in the raid. Even thou Jacob was a solo player he said he doesn't mind partying up from time to time. We walked behind the group and behind two people behind them. One had on a hood. We walked down a path in the middle of the forest early in the afternoon. "So Roxana, how good are you with the bow?" Jacob said from in front of us. "Not bad. Haven't shot Gabriel yet so yea." "So you have our backs while me and Gabe are taking care of the sentinals?" "Yup." "How's your Sword skill Jacob?" I asked. "Better than yours I bet." "Is that a challenge?" "Whenever your ready." I smerked at him. Its on. My girlfriend giggled next to me. We held hands all the way to the boss room.
