One year earlier
Shawn POV
I groan at the sound of my alarm clock. Taking a deep breath i throw it down, hoping it would stop ringing, and it didn't. Rolling my eyes i pick it up, and switch it off myself. What a way to start my senior year of high school.
I notice it was raining too. How lovely. By now you could probably tell high school wasn't exactly my "best friend". In fact, Im starting to think it despises me. Why wouldn't it? If my sophmore year was horrible, the likelihood of senior year would probably be the same.
"Shawn! breakfast is ready!", i hear my mom yell. A fact about her is that she says the word marshmallow really funny. Random, but true.
After getting dressed in simple jeans and a plain flannel, i head downstairs. I greet my thirteen year old sister, Aaliyah, who was whining.
"My heads burning up mum! i don't think i can go to school today", Aaliyah complains, putting her hand over her head dramatically. Mum rolls her eyes.
"You don't have a fever Aaliyah. Eat your breakfast quickly Shawn". Like that we both shut up, both eating our breakfast in silence. They were English muffins, i would've preferred blueberry.
Finishing it up, i grab my bag and my car keys. "Bye mom!" i yell before heading to my car, A Jeep Wrangler. The most precious thing next to my Fender Guitar. I play some good old john Mayer's continuum, before driving off to school.
I arrive to my own personal hell i call Pine Ridge Secondary. I check my appearance in the rear view mirror of my car. Fixing my hair, i step out, and brace for whatever's in store for me when i walk through those doors.
I step in, nothing really happens. The hallway is packed with people. Pushing past them, i finally reach my locker. Looking at my schedule, I find out i have science first. Rolling my eyes i get my books out, only having them thrown to the ground by Chad Kingston, the captain of the football team.
"Going somewhere Mendes?" He smirks. You see, Chad has terrorised me ever since freshman year. Only God knows why he has decided to channel all his seething rage on me. I was practically helpless in this situation.
"Are you gonna beat me up now? I'm kinda getting late so just hurry up and get it over with" i roll my eyes. I wasn't taking any shit from him, at least not today of all days.
Chad glares at me. "Watch your mouth Mendes. I'm not hesitant to beat your ass up just like i did last year, but I'm feeling sentimental. Consider yourself lucky today", that being said, he walks away, hitting my shoulder in the process. I visibly calm down as the bell rings, signalling we were supposed to head to class.
I reach room 301, sitting down in the far back, like always. I try to let people pay as little attention to me as possible.
"Listen up people! we have a new student in our class today. I want you all to treat her nicely and make her feel welcome" Our teacher announces. I wasn't listening to her as the most gorgeous girl in all of human history was standing right in front of the class. She had brown hair that came up mid waist. She was wearing ripped jeans and a simple green flannel. Just like me!
The teacher look around the class, looking around for an empty seat. "You can sit beside Shawn!" she says cheerfully. I freeze, watching her walk up to the desk beside me.
She sits down and sets her bag down. Goddamn, she was beautiful.
"Uh, hello?" she says waving her hand in front of me. Fuck. She was talking to me while i was staring at her. what a way to be cool shawn, I think as i mentally slap myself.
"Oh, im sorry. I-I didn't hear you". She giggles, shaking her head. "I said my name Rose." She says with a smile.
