"Dinner's ready!", I heard my mom yell. It was a good thing cause my stomach was just starting to growl. Now that i think about it, I barely ate anything since breakfast.

Dinner was awfully quiet. Like so quiet you could only hear the fork against the plate and the wind.

My grandma decided to break the silence, "So Hazel, what do you think about Kevin? Is he nice?", I blushed a little.

"Umm, yeah he is okay. He is a sweet guy.", I looked at my plate so they wouldn't see my bright red cheeks.

"Oh, looks like somebody has a crush", Mom said exaggerating the word crush.

"Okay, first of all really mom? And second there is no way I have a crush on Kevin"

"Think what you want to think. And you also have my approval. He is a gentleman", Mom said.

Before she could say another word I got off the chair and went to put my plate away. After I put my plate away I went to my room. I looked at the clock that read 8:30. I wasn't tired yet so I decided to read "The Fault in Our Stars". I have read this book a million times already, yet I can never get enough.

After reading a couple chapters I got tired. It wasn't my bedtime yet but I was sleepy. I changed into my ocean pajamas and went to bed. All that was on my mind at that time was the project. Why, just why did I get that topic? I sighed and in less that 5 minutes I was fully asleep.

BEEP, BEEP, BEEP
I groaned as I got up. Sometimes I hate alarm clocks. I was having a good dream. Like, Luke was going to ask me a question, I got so excited and the next thing you know I'm hearing my alarm clock.

I quickly peeked out of my window to see if Kevin was there. I may not like him but he sure as heck looks hot. Like who wouldn't want a piece of that.

Sadly, he wasn't in his room. I sighed and went to my bathroom. I took a shower and just wore a plain red shirt with some white shorts. It was hot outside, since it was Florida.

I went downstairs and ate my usual breakfast, cereal. I quickly finished my milk, took my backpack, and closed the door. I told Kevin that I wanted to walk today and enjoy the weather and he agreed. The school isn't far from my house so the walk wasn't long. I met up with Melanie and Katie at the front. We went inside and we decided to catch up on stuff since I couldn't use my phone.

"My mother and my grandmother were acting weird yesterday. After Kevin and his mom left they kept giving each other glances and didn't even talk much", I said as I was getting my books for first period.

"And during dinner, my grandma asked me if I "liked" Kevin.", they laughed.

"You have a weird family", Katie said laughing.

"Well you could meet them tonight if you want to", they both nodded. The bell rang and I went to first period, math.

I went inside and sat in my seat. Just as the bell rang, the queen bee showed up. What did I even do to sit next to her. She took her seat and the teacher started talking.

"Okay class, today you will be working on your packet. This is going to be group work so you will have to work with the person next to you", Mr. Johnson said.

"Can I please have a different partner, Mr. Johnson. I don't want to work with this loser" I had to admit, that did hurt.

"Sorry, but if I change your partner, than I will have to change everyone's partners. And you can't work by yourself because the work does require more than one person", he said handing students packets.

Emily just snickered.

By the end with somehow got the work done. We decided to each do certain questions. That required less talking so that was good enough for me.

"BRING"

The bell rang signalling first period to be over, thankfully.

I went to my locker where I saw Kevin.

"Hey, haven't seen you all day", I said.

"Yeah. It was nice meeting your grandparents by the way. And I also started on the essay.", he said.

"Oh, you didn't have to. We could've just worked during class", I replied.

"I know I didn't have to, but I wanted to, since your grandparents are over and I know you want to spend some time with them. It wasn't that much torture any way. The introduction isn't that hard", I stood there shocked. I didn't really expect him to do any work. I guess I was wrong.

"Well, tha-", I was cut off by Emily showing up.

"Hey Kevin, are you free tonight? I thought we would probably, you know, have some fun.", I scrunched my nose in disgust. By the looks of it she is a slut. The way she dresses disgusts me. It shows a little too much. Why don't the teachers tell her to change.

Her make up too. It looks like a mask. I don't really get why some girls wear make up. Like there is a thing called natural beauty. I would get if girls wore basic make up like a little bit of blush, but a lot is just weird, especially for a normal school day.

"Umm, no thank you. I actually have plans tonight. I am supposed to go to Hazel's house to finish our project.", Kevin said looking at me. I was about to say no when I realised he was trying to get Emily away.

"Ohh, can't you reschedule? It's not like she is busy any oth-", she was cut off by the bell. I went straight to my next period.

The rest of the school day went by in a blur. I was at my locker gathering my things when I heard Emily's footsteps.

"So Kevin, like I said earlier can't you reschedule? It's not like she has plans any other day.", Before Kevin could respond I spoke. "Umm, Kevin we really need to go. You are my ride remember?", I said winking. Emily didn't notice me winking at all so that was good. "Yeah, we should", he said and we left. We went to the car. "Thanks for saving my butt, Hazel. Seriously, she doesn't get the hint when I tell her no.", he said smiling. "Yeah, and I also didn't feel like walking so that was a good excuse", we both laughed.

Okay, so first of all I am so sorry for not updating. One of the reasons is that I couldn't think of what to write for this chapter.

Another reason is that I have been depressed lately. I just felt really alone and I have been feeling like I am boring lately.

Well, onto the authors note, okay so I decided to change the setting to Florida since it would be appropriate for the clothing they wear and the places they go. Also, so there is no confusion, the chapter "School Assignment" takes place one month after bowling. Since this is my first book, I want to speed up things a little bit. Even though I like putting a lot of detail, I have something planned and I don't think it will look good if I put during the beginning of the school year. I also don't have ideas.

Lastly, there is going to be drama coming in the next chapter and probably a secret or two might spill out. Who knows. You might have to just read and find out.
