Tick. Tick. Tick.
Charlotte couldn't take it anymore. The ticking on Melani's watch was driving her crazy. All day it would go off and Charlotte couldn't take it anymore. It brought up too many bad memories. She has brought it up to Melani a million times to get rid of the damn thing, but Melani always starts crying. She couldn't bare to part with it. She loved that watch more than she loved her own parents. Mostly because she's only ever seen them. Never talked.
Something slid in between the bars. Thinking it was their sandwiches, they went to go look. Instead they find a box marked with a C.
"What did u do this time, Charlotte?" Melani said. She's tried talking with people to send her stuff. The only thing she has is a cheap phone that charges with solar panels, so she often texts random numbers.
"None of your business. Now hand it to me." Melani heads Charlotte the box, struggling a little due to the heaviness. Inside was a blanket.
"I don't understand. Why did u ask someone for a blanket?" She rambles on and on about the importance of getting food instead.
"Wait. I didn't finish." Charlotte says. She lifts up the blanket and shows hundreds upon hundreds of dollar bills. "Proud of me?"
"No! I'm not. What the heck are you thinking. What are we using these for?" Melani screams. Charlotte lifts up all the money revealing a crowbar.
"We're getting out of here" Charlotte's smile fades. "Help me hide it. I hear your mom!" We shove the stuff under a rock and sit down acting bored.
"Hello, children." Says someone. Melani recognizes the voice. Not as her mom's but her grandma's.
"GRANDMA?!" Melani rushes to the bars and holds her grandma's hand. "What are you doing here?"
"Ask Charlotte." Melani's grandma says. Melani looks at Charlotte confused.

Charlotte smiles and says "Thanks for the package. Now let's get out of here."
