~No One's Point of View~
Holland and Dylan never spoke to one another. They saw each other around campus sometimes. From what Lydia could tell, Dylan had had at least four different girlfriends throughout his high school life. All of which made her slightly jealous. But she knew she had no right to be, so she decided to find a new boy. She did. His name was Ian. He was tall, had dark hair, crystal blue eyes, and was the captain of the base ball team. They adored each other, and the only way to describe it was young love.
Holland still cared for Dylan... just not the degree she had before. Now he was like an unsolved mystery to her. Why did Dylan do the things that he did? She asked that question frequently her junior year. She had two classes with him that year: Drama and U.S. History. Drama was first period, and he was usually punctual and dedicated to that class. But during history fifth period, he turned into a whole other person. He would flaunt a ninja turtle lunch pale on his desk and eat during class even though we had just come from lunch. He would sleep at least half the time. The other half of the time was spent making odd noises and throwing things at people from across the room. Holland could've sworn he was on some sort of drug, but she didn't want to make assumptions.
She wanted to talk to him. She wanted to apologize for the way she treated him. As she grew older and matured, she realized that the way she spoke to him was bullying and to her that was unacceptable. But again, just like elementary school, she could not speak to him. No words would come out.
One day, she was sitting with her friends at lunch. Her boyfriend Ian was at a mandatory baseball practice so she was able to freely gossip about their relationship. All good things of course. Holland was wrapping up a story about their last date when the look on her friends' faces turned strongly confused. They stared behind her and then back to her face. Holland turned around to see Dylan leaning up against a tree by their table intensely staring at her. They made eye contact and he did not look away. After about ten seconds, she ripped her gaze away from his mesmerizing brown eyes. Her friends still looked confused, which told Holland that he was still staring at her. But she didn't say anything about it, and just moved on with her story. After about ten minutes, he finally walked away, and they watched him go. Her friends knew that they had known each other before, and so they bombarded Holland with questions, "What was that about?" "Why was he staring at you like that?" "He wasn't even trying to hide it!" "I wonder if he could hear our conversations?" "I bet he likes you, Holland!" Holland didn't know how to respond to them, but their last suggestion made her eyes widen. He couldn't have liked her, right? No, probably not. Besides, she had a boyfriend who she loved very much, and she was pretty sure he had a girl friend.
The rest of their high school life went by quickly. They never spoke to each other and Holland never got to apologize to him. Maybe one day, they'd see each other again....
