Acilia had been berating the man for at least six hours now, maybe longer. He was at his breaking point, while she hardly batted a lash.

She stood catty-cornered to his seat, bent to lean in close to his face.

"We both know you did this." She stated, sliding over several photos of the crime. "That's a lot of weight in your shoulders, isn't it? You just want to tell somebody? So confess!"

"I didn't do nothing!" The subject yelled back, tired eyes fleeing from hers.

"Now we both know that's not true! We've got YOUR fingerprints, YOUR DNA at the scene! The. Jig. Is. Up! Just say it!" She yelled, shoving a photo of the victim directly in his line of sight, inches away from his eyes. "Say you killed her!"

"I didn't -"

"Don't lie to me!" Acilia howled, throwing the already broken man off guard. She quickly moved to her seat across from him, hands placidly clasped on the table.

"Now look, we you know you did this, but the DA is willing to cut you a deal if you plead guilty and save us the trouble of a trial."

"I ain't sayin' I did somethin' I didn't." He spat, his eyes still averting Acilia's.

"But Ethan," she continued, "We've got you with a smoking gun!"

"no." He said.

"Your fingerprints all over the crime scene."

"No."

"Witnesses placing you at the scene just before her death!"

"NO!"

"And your DNA on the victim's body!"

"NO, NO, NO!"

"Yes Ethan! Stop denying this! We have all the evidence we need to put you away for life, and the only way you're gonna avoid rotting away in Rikers till you die is if you confess!" She paused, letting that statement hang in the air. "So what's it gonna be? Are going to keep lying, and force me to do everything in my power to make sure you never see a city outside bars again, or are you gonna play nice and take the deal?"

"Alright!" He screamed, both eyes shaking and he slowly raised his hands to cover his face. "Alright.. I killed her."

"How?"

"I shot her."

"Why?"

He choked, tears gushing as he raised his head, looking Acilia directly in the eyes.

"She said she was gon' leave me."

Acilia scoffed, disgust evident as she crossed her arms.

"So if you can't have her no one can.." She murmured as she stood, turning towards the door. "Guard!"

Quickly the guard rummaged for keys, opening up the door, where a resident lawyer stood waiting.

"Forensic evidence eh?"

Acilia shrugged. "I got a confession didn't I?"

The attorney cocked his head. "You know that we had NO forensic evidence. This guy could've evaded prison forever!"

Acilia halted in her steps, nodding back to the interrogation room where her perp still sat, hands cuffed to the table. "Yeah, but he didn't."

Logan, the lawyer, sighed. "One of these they're gonna call your bluff you know. What then?"

Acilia shrugged. She'd cross that bridge when she got to it, besides; she had other devices at her disposal.

"These crooks can't hide from their guilt forever, they all crack eventually."
