Themes are the main message behind a story. You first learned about themes when you were probably in 3rd or 4th grade. But, it can be hard coming up with a theme if the story doesn't give you a lot of information. One way that I think that could be a good way to come up with a theme is to make a list on a separate paper or on the same paper. Then finish writing the outline and circle the one you think fits the best with your story.
Some examples of themes:
1)People have their own opinions= I think that this could go with a murder. The reason why is because, maybe the character draws something and his or hers best friend doesn't think it's that very good. The character kills his or her friend. Then, the character realises that people have their own opinions as they're in jail or as they're growing up.
2)Don't mess up with people or you could get the consequences= Kids, teens, and adults like to mess with others. But, you wouldn't want to mess with a person who's drunk or has anger issues.
3)Take it slow and not fast or you'll mess up= Everyone wants to get something done faster. But, you could go slow and take your time.
