Choukou was still frozen as she stared at her friend, mouth agape. Every single one of her friends had died. And now she was next. She didn't want to die but she couldn't save any of her friends; not even Katsu...

"Now it's your turn," Masato said turning to Choukou. "I think you deserve a slow, painful death."

He walked over to Choukou. Choukou was so afraid but she didn't run away, she deserved what came next.

"You're not really Masato Kimura... Are you?" Choukou asked. Masato just laughed.

"I am Masato but I'm not the Masato you know," he whispered. He kicked Choukou onto her back and knelt next to Choukou's left leg. Masato got his switchblade and started to brutally hack her leg off above the knee. Choukou screamed. After a little bit, Choukou didn't have to look to know that her leg had been cut off.

Airi.

Masato looked at the wound. The flesh looked like it had been ripped and dipped in red. He could see the girl's bone jutting out of the leg. Masato moved onto the next leg and did the same. He had to move fast, otherwise she would die before he could finish.

Choukou felt the dismemberment of her other leg.

Shiro and Tamiko.

Then Masato moved to Choukou's arm. She had stopped screaming a little while ago, which was disappointing, but he still needed to bring her to justice. The arm was easier to cut off.

Choukou cried. She could still feel the pain but it was nothing compared to the pain she felt when she thought about her friends.

Minato.

Then the other arm.

Kazuko.

In her last few moments, Choukou saw Masato lean over her and bring the knife to her neck.

Katsu...

Splash! Masato dived the blade into Choukou's neck and sighed. He did it! Finally... Masato looked at the content look on Choukou's dead face! Masato made a 'tch' sound and stabbed Choukou in the face. He kept on stabbing her until her face was nothing but a sloshed up mess.

All of a sudden-

"The police!" Masato exclaimed. He retrieved his switchblade and ran. He saw lights behind him and exhaled in relief when he saw the lights getting smaller and smaller. They were probably investigating the two corpses. Masato didn't look where he was going and crashed into something. When he looked up from the ground, he saw none other than Hayate.

"M-Masato?" Hayate said, his voice shaky.

"Hayate..." Masato whispered. Oh no... Hayate saw him, he now knows he's the murderer! He'll have to- have to- but, there was no way he could kill Hayate.

"Masato, please tell me this isn't true," Hayate cried. Masato tried to remain calm and cool for his last moments.

"I killed them, all of them," Masato said.

"Why?" Hayate dropped to his knees. Masato got out his knife and he saw Hayate flinch. Masato got closer and closer to Hayate and when they were close enough-

He kissed him. Albeit, the kiss was lifeless.

The moment didn't last very long when Masato pulled back and chuckled at Hayate's shocked expression. Masato looked up to the sky, it was still a beautiful night.

Masato gripped the knife tighter and brought it down into his chest. He coughed up blood onto Hayate. At some point, Masato had reverted to his original self.

Masato thought about his sad, depressing life. He thought about how he should have paid more attention to school, how he should have paid more attention to his health. But it was too late now.

"Masato!" Hayate yelled. Hayate didn't pull the blade out of him; it was too late to save him now. So he cried...

Masato thought about the people he killed and he thought about his sister. How torn and devastated she would be when she realised that her brother killed 9 people (including himself). He thought about how he was about to leave her behind.

Hayate pulled Masato into an embrace. His tears falling onto Masato's head.

And Masato thought about Hayate. He thought about how they worked together and how he lied to him. He thought about how he never deserved to be at his side for as long as he was. But he did appreciate the hours he was, he was so grateful to have had spent that time with him.

Masato would miss a lot of things, mainly his sister and the novels he read, he still hadn't finished the one he was reading. Did the murderer live happily ever after or did she have a tragic end like Masato? Either way, Masato knew that he would miss Hayate the most. Why? Because he loved him.

"Masato... I'm sorry I couldn't see it sooner..."
