Hey, everyone! This chapter is a little weird. In Choukou's flashback, the words in italics e.g. Word are what is actually happening in the present day (until flashback ends) and normal writing is in the past (in the flashback)."Another murder and we still haven't found any more clues about the suspect," Hayate sighed. Out of the seven friends, five were killed.
"Oh, that's right," Masato whispered to himself. "Hayate? I met a girl from the group of friends. Her name is Choukou."
Hayate nodded in understanding.
"I feel like we should-" Masato started. Hayate's phone interrupted their conversation. Hayate picked it up.
"Right... Okay... I'll go right now. Sorry Masato, I have to get going," Hayate said and left. That's a relief.
All of a sudden, Masato felt dizzy and sick. He fell to his knees. He started to get a huge headache and he heard a whisper in his head.
'Am I going insane?' Masato thought.
Come on, it's my turn!
Masato gasped at the voice in his head. He looked around but there was no one there.
Give in already, I need some fun~
"What the- hell?" Masato said. He felt like throwing up. Masato felt his eyes close and his consciousness fading.
-
When Masato awoke, he was in his room. He rose from his bed, confused.
"What? Wasn't I-" Masato said. His eyes widened. He grabbed his phone from his bedside table and checked the date. It was the morning after the day he met up with Hayate.
What happened when he was unconscious? Did he sleep walk? But Masato had never sleep walked in his life. Was he somehow awake then? Maybe it had something to do with that voice in his head...
Masato emailed Hayate, 'did you see me yesterday afternoon?'
Hayate's reply came fast, 'well, of course. We were talking about the murders.'
'I mean... After.'
'No, why?' Hayate said.
'Ah, never mind,' Masato replied.
'What? Don't tell me you got amnesia.'
Masato knew it was supposed to be a joke, but he had a feeling this was serious.
'Yesterday, after you left, I felt really sick and I fell asleep. I was hearing voices in my head. Am I going crazy?' Masato asked. There was a very long silence.
'I don't think you're going crazy. Maybe you aren't getting enough sleep,' Hayate replied.
'Yeah, probably. Thanks,' Masato said.
Pang!
"Ow! Don't tell me..." Masato whispered.
They're catching onto us. We need to hurry up!
"What?" Masato said.
Don't tell me you haven't caught on yet. I am your other half. You are on the outside most of the time but I like to show up every now and then. Always when it's a beautiful night...
