Four words
It's unbelievable how four words can change your life forever. Phrases like "I truly love you" or "I really like you" are so powerful that they can warm your heart in a matter of seconds and lead you to happiness. But it was a much simplier phrase-one I never expected to read-that changed my life.
It was past midnight on a Saturday, and I was surfing the Internet as usual. I was lying ony bed, searching for stories to read on my laptop. I gad finished reading all my paperbacks so I decided to check out the online ones I had heard so much about. Most of the websites tha offered e-books were kind of expensive. I would have paid for the books that caught my attention, but I was eighteen.
I barely had enough lunch money, and I definitely didn't have a credit card.Sighing in frustration, I was about to give up when I saw an Orange icon and the word "free." I clicked on it and the browser showed me wonderland: "Enriching Lives Through stories." So many titles that caught my attention as I scrolled down the page. I couldn't believe tha I could read all those amazing stories for fee!
For the first few days, I was a silent reader. But soon, I created an account, followed authors, and commented on their stories to support their work.
One month later, I was addicted. I checked wattpad three times a day to see if the stories I was following had been updated. It was hard to balance hanging out with my friends and spending time on Wattpad, but I learned to do so after a few weeks. Whenever I was with my friends, I just wouldn't look at my Iphone.Anyway, about those four words tha changed my life: It all began one afternoon after I got home from school. I turned on my laptop and immediately logged into Wattpad. That was when my eyes caught that phrase: share your own story
I had always liked writing. I had few stories on my laptop that I hadn't finished writing. Maybe I was lazy, or maybe I never thought peaple would read them. But one night, I decided to upload my first story. To say I was nervous would be an understatement; I was terrified. I checked my e-mail every five seconds to see if I had recieved a comment or anything.
After two days of agony, my phone buzzed; I got an e-mail from wattpad. "You recieved a comment on your story." My heart came to a halt. I clicked on the link and read, "I love it, you should write more! Upload soon!" I almost jumped for joy. Someone liked my story! Someone had actually read my story and enjoyed it. I was grinning from ear to ear as I thanked her for the nice comment.
That was how everything started. Those four words really fot me something I loved. I uploaded chapter after chapter, gainin more fans and making new friends in the process. What I enjoyed most about Wattpad was that I got to meet peaple from every corner of the world.
(Play the song)But then something else happened. I was lying in bed one night when my phone buzzes, announcing I had an e-mail.
Darkpoetry101 sent you a message.
Well, that's an interesting username. I clicked on the link to my message board and frowned as I read the message:
Your story is really girly, don't you think? It's no good, if you ask me. I don't understand how it's so popular, given that it's plot isn't original at all.
My finger froze on the screen. My good mood went to down the drain. I was devastated. I hadn't recieved a negative message in the two months I'd been on wattpad.
I was sure the site was promoting friendly enviornment but there was definitely peaple out there who didn't know how to be nice. I checked the profile of the person who sent the message and frowned even more.
It was a guy. It wasn't common to find guys on this site. I read his profile in silence:Username:Darkpoetry101

Hello there, dark poet
I understand if you didn't like my story,
But there was no need to be rude.
Hugs,
AngieI clicked "send" and I didn't even get a chance to breathe before my phone buzzed again, announcing he had replied. This guy was fast! My eyes narrowed at his reply
Darkpoetry101:Touched a nerve?;)
I bit my lower lip in anger and quickly replied.
AngieRocks:Hey, i'm just saying there's no need to be so rude. If you don't like my story, just don't read it. Save your rudeness for yourself.
Darkpoetry101:Cut the drama, girly
This isn't one of your stories,
This is the real world. ;pAnd tha is how an epic argument started
AngieRocks: First of all, don't call me girly. I don't know you. Second, I'm not being dramatic. It wouldn't kill you to be nice.
Darkpoetry101: Why would I be nice to you? I don't know you.
AngieRocks: Exactly. You don't know me. There's no reason for you to be rude to me.
Darkpoetry101: Whatever, girly. ;)
AngieRocks: It doesn't! Just be nicer the next time you want to give your opinion about a story.
Darkpoetry101: Oh, did I hurt your feelings?
AngieRocks: Yes.For a moment, I thought he was going to apologizd But then he replied.
Darkpoetry101: You want to cry on my shoulder, girly? ;)
AngieRocks: Can't you just apologize?
Darkpoetry101: Nope.
AngieRocks: I give up. Just don't talk to me ever again.
Darkpoetry101: Aww, you're
Breaking my heart, girly.
AngieRocks: Shut up! Being sarcastic isn't helping.
Darkpoetry101: I think it is.
AngieRocks: Why are you so mean?
Darkpoetry101: No reason :)
AngieRocks: Just stay away from me.
Darkpoetry101: You are the one who's stalking my profile. Leave, stalker.
AngieRocks: I'm not stalking you. I came here to see if we could have an agreement. I want you to understand that your rude messages hurt peaple.
Darkpoetry101: Blah blah blah.
AngieRocks: You are...
Darkpoetry101: Can't think of a proper insult, Mrs. Strawberry?
AngieRocks: Strawberry? What the...
Darkpoetry101: Yeah, you're like a strawberry. Your stories are so cheesy.
AngieRocks: You're unbelievable.
Darkpoetry101: Thanks! ;)
AngieRocks: It wasn't a compliment!
Darkpoetry101: It was for me ;)
AnieRocks: I'm out of here.
Darkpoetry101: Go, shoo! You're staining my page with your pink fingertips and Strawberry smell.Fuming, I left his page. This guy was unbelievable! He had no manners or respect for other peaple. I could feel my heart beating desperately inside my chest. I buried my face in my pillow and growled in anger. He really fot on my nerves. How could he be so rude?
My phone buzzed and I slowly looked up to check the screenDarkpoetry101 sent you a private message.
A private message? That was forward of him. I frowned as I read it:
It was nice talking to you,
Mrs.Strawberry. This isn't over. :)I squeezed my fists. Oh, it's on!
