Chapter Ten

Georgie

Louis isn't home today. Like usual. How long does he have to babysit this kid for? I mean its already been forever. He's always doing everything, but getting a job. I shouldn't be the only one working around here. I love my job, but sometimes it gets excessive and I can't afford to take a day off.

I sit up from the couch clad in my polar bear pajama pants and baggy grey t-shirt. My hair is thrown up into a mess on my head. I look like a complete and udder wreck. I don't even have two socks on.

I walk into the kitchen and grab a bottle of water from fridge, contemplating my life choices once again. It has become a daily thing and looking at all the bad mistakes you've made never gets old, until I end up a sobbing mess, wishing my mom would take me back in so I don't have to worry about anything any more.

I would call Luke, but I think he is working. He's normally always busy.

I walk back into the living room, seeing my keys on the table and question myself. do I wanna go anywhere? Yes. Do I wanna change clothes? No. I have found my answer.

I grab my keys and my thin black cardigan and walk out the door. I get in my car and start it up. What am I doing? I look like a mess. Is this what my life has become?

I laugh at myself, turning on the radio. Time to finally have a good time.

Time seems to go by really quickly. A couple of songs turns into ten. I've been driving for a good hour and a half. Driving to no specific place. Just trying to enjoy myself, trying to find somewhere that interest me.

I look to my right and see an antique store. It catches my eye. My eyes are narrowed, as I pull into a parking place.

I hop out of the car, not caring about my tacky attire. Who cares? I mean whats there opinion matter anyways?

I leisurely walk towards the store. I've almost made it to the entrance, but a figure on the ground catches my eye.

My eyebrows furrow and I look around me, confused. I'm curious and tempted to see who it is and if they're okay, but scared.

I slowly walk over into the alley, gulping. This is not a good idea, but what if they're hurt.

But what if they're dangerous.

Ahh just shut up, Georgie.

I shake my head, leaning down to get a closer look of the person. With a shaky hand I reach out to poke the person, but get no response.

With one big sigh I push the body over, getting a good look at their face.

Harry.

What's he doing out here? Oh my gosh. What happened? I start to panic and pull his body up, seeing that he's wrapped in a thick black coat.

I attempt to pull the coat off his body, but fail. I pull my phone out and dial 911.

" Yes, what is your emergency? " I hear a lady say in a monotone voice. I look over at Harry.

" Umm...I have found a man. He's unconscious and his face is really red. He's barely breathing..." I trail off, trying not to panick. My eyes keep flickering over to Harry.

My clammy hand grips the phone. " What's the address? " She ask. I can hear computer keys clicking in the background and faint voices.

" 734 Asher point street. " I respond in a rushed manner.

" okay, miss paramedics are on their way. Just stay calm. " she says and then the phone clicks off.

I once again bend down and try to get the coat off of him. I finally get it pulled off him and slump
back. I watch him closely and make and sure he's breathing at all times. His face is bright red.

I can hear sirens in the distance, so I stand up. I walk a couple of meters away from Harry so the paramedics can see me.

They quickly hop out of their vehicle, sirens and lights dying down. They rush past me and start checking his pulse. I stand back, arms wrapped around myself.

I follow them as they bring Harry into the vehicle, trying to revive him. So much is going on I can barely keep up.
________

The monitors beeping, the wheezing sound of the respirator, my thoughts and Harry. Not what I'd choose to normally be left alone with. It has been like this for at least three hours he had yet to wake up. The thought of him not waking up scares me, even though I know he will.

Ring. Ring.

I pull my phone out of my pocket and answer it. " hello?" I answer.

" Hey, babe. " I hear Louis' voice. Oh. I didn't even look at the caller ID. " Where are you? When I came home you weren't there. "

I roll my eyes. " I'm out in town. I'll be back soon" I respond. " Don't wait up. " I snap. I hang up the phone not in the mood up listen to Louis' endless banter. They're is something up with him. I just know it.

I look up and Harry is looking right back at me. Well he doesn't know he is. I gasp silently, my lips parting. I can feel my heart speed up. His eyes look weak and his eyebrows are furrowed. He doesn't know I'm here. He probably doesn't he know where he is.

I'm silent for a good ten minutes, watching Harry panic to himself quietly. He seems to be in no rush, probably from the fact that he's weak right now.

I decide to speak up. "Harry?" I say. His body stiffens and he pouts his lips.

" who's there? Where am I? " he ask.

" You're in a hospital. You passed out in an alley. I supposed it was from the heat." I answer avoiding his first question. He notices.

" Who are you? " He ask again.

I decide against telling him my name and go with this: " I'm an old friend of yours. " I reply.

He shuffle with the thin blankets that cover him. I can't tell if he remembers, well I can't tell what he's thinking at all anywho.

We fall into a uncomfortable silence and I gulp. Why do we always have to meet in the worst circumstances. He doesn't even remember me.

I open the door and it makes a loud creak. I have one foot out when he speaks up.

" Don't leave, Georgie. " my breathing hitches and I grip the door knob, my knuckles turning white.

I tune around. " what? " not sure if I heard him correctly.

" Stay, Georgie. " He says one last time. " Please."
