I sighed, another day in dreary London. I entered the diner, just one of my part time jobs. Moving around the counter and into the back, I put my uniform on and began cleaning the counters.
"Uh waitress?" A woman called impatiently. I groaned and plastered a smile on my face before walking over to her.
"Yes miss, how can I help you?" I tried sounding enthusiastic.
"I've been sitting here for ten minutes and no one has even approached me!" The woman snapped.
"I'm sorry, if you couldn't tell I was working!" I smiled darkly. She shrunk away from my stare and went back to examining the menu.
"Someone will be with you in a moment." I growled as I went back to cleaning the empty tables. I heard the bell ring as a customer entered, a slim smaller man with short slick hair stepped inside, he was very well dressed for a crappy diner. I watched him cross the room and sit on a stool at the counter.
"Y/N, do you mind handling that customer? I'll get the new guy to clean." My manager asked. I nodded and slipped behind the counter and stood in front of the customer.
"Hello, could I start you off with a drink?" I plastered my fake, enthusiastic smile on.
"A tea, water." He ordered without even looking for me. I sighed and nodded. I went and poured the water into a glass. I poured tea into a cup and carried it out to him.
"Here you are sir!" I smiled placing it in front of him. His gaze flicked to my face.
"You look tired." He muttered.
"I don't believe you are in any place to say so, sir." I kept smiling.
"Really now?" He lifted his head a bit more.
"Yes really, you try working 3 part time jobs!" I smirked and leaned against the counter behind me.
"3 different jobs?" He gazed at me.
"Yeah, gotta pay for a flat. London isn't a cheap place to live either!" I sighed.
"True.." The man shrugged. "I'll take a turkey sandwich."
"Got it!" I wrote the order down and handed it to our chef, it wasn't a busy diner so food was handed out pretty quickly. I could feel the man watching me from the counter, I remained in the kitchen, waiting for his meal.
"I saw you talking to him Y/N! He's not bad looking Y'know." The chef, Lori, smirked at me.
"He's a customer, I have to talk to him." I rolled my eyes and grinned at her.
"Well here's his sandwich." Lori handed it to me, I nodded to her and walked back out.
"Your sandwich." I put it down.
"Looks good." He commented.
"Yeah probably is!" I shrugged and went to take other people's orders.
"Y/N! We're having a meeting after work!" My manager shouted from across the diner. I have a thumbs up and took the dirty dishes into the kitchen. Emergency meetings were never good, especially because we hardly have any customers anymore. I cleaned the dishes and brought the bill out to the man.
"Was it good?" I asked handing it over to him.
"Not the best I've had, but good enough." He winked at me before standing and putting the payment down, with a tip. I smiled and went back to work. I took my tip and then noticed he tipped me 25%.
"Huh.." I looked around, but then felt stupid because he'd been gone for almost fifteen minutes. I put the money in my apron, and went back to cleaning and waitressing.

"We're shutting down!" My manager declared.
"What!?" Lori sat upright.
"When?!" I cried, followed by hundreds of other questions from the other workers.
"The owner decided the diner wasn't worth it!" The manager explained.
"We're shutting down today, we also.. Are kind of.. Bankrupt.." Our other manager sighed. I sighed frustrated. The diner had always been poorly run, but this was by far the worst thing they've done. Obviously.
"Well.. Goodbye everyone, here's your final pay checks!" The managers went around handing out pay checks as we exited the diner. I groaned and walked back to my flat. It was across the street from some famous detective guy and his blogger, they were totally gay for each other. I set my keys down in a bowl on the counter and sat on the couch. I had to head out to my next job working the cash at a flower shop in about 20 minutes. I picked up a newspaper and started searching for job offers, I was hardly making enough to rent this place. No new openings.. I sighed and stood up, my fridge was almost empty, other than a yogurt and some other things. I took the yogurt and sat at the table and ate. I opened my laptop and read some more of John Watson's blog, it was one of my odd pass times. I scrolled through, chuckling at the adventures the two men have. My eyes flicked to the clock.
"I'm late!" I screamed. I walked quickly down to the flower shop just down the street. I saw a man standing at the counter.
"W-wait! You're the guy I served today!" I pointed at him.
"It's Jim actually, not guy I served today." He grinned a bit.
"Y/N." I smiled. "What do you need?" I stood behind the cash.
"Oh just a bouquet of white and pink dyed roses.." He pointed at a display of dyed roses. I nodded and smiled. I went out back and grabbed a bouquet and walked back out. He took them and smiled.
"Thank you, how many jobs do you work?" Jim asked.
"I had 3, but the diner I worked at just closed." I shrugged.
"Why so many jobs?" He cocked his head slightly.
"I have a pretty expensive flat, and not much money." I laughed a bit. He chuckled and nodded.
"Well good luck, here's my number if you need anything." He slid his number neatly over the corner and walked out. I smiled and looked down at the number putting it into my purse. I put on my apron and went to work at the shop.YAY that was chapter 1! Not too exciting but just you wait!
