(Alice pov)

I woke up in a bed of smoke, coughing like crazy, ears ringing from the smoke detector. The only light in the house is the one coming from downstairs. I shot up out of my bed and ran into Maya's room to her bed, only to find her not I yanked the blankets up and threw them on the ground. I hear a crying sound coming from in the closet. I ran to it pushing the doors open there she sits sobbing and coughing with her long wave brown hair sticking to her face looking up at me with her big blue eyes. I scoop her up into my arms, and ran back into my room. I grab a bag and put my wallet, photo book,three shirts , and three pants zip the bag up and swung it around one shoulder. I turn to maya and told her to jump on my back, she hops on and, all I can say is she's a lot heavier. I ran down the hall to the bathroom and grabbed a cloth and handed it to her.

Cover your mouth, I said

Okay, I love you sis, she cried

I ran down the stairs I saw the fire spreading rapidly to the basement where my mom and sister sleep with her new born. With maya on back I slid down the reales over the fire to the basement, I went into my moms room first flip the light switch on and went over to her bed Only to find her not there.

Did she smell the fire and leave us to die like dogs?

no Alihea loves us she would never do that, I thought to myself .

I got dragged out of my thoughts by Maya's coughing.

I hear Hannah's crying, Maya cries

I ran into my sisters room and looked in her bed, Maya and I yelled her name I reached over and rolled her over. Maya gasped in fright, I stared and all that stared back was a cold lifeless body. We both watched hoping she'd moved, coughing, crying, ears ringing noises filled my head. Maya yelled something but I didn't hear her she yelled it again and this time I heard perfectly.

Alice, Alice she cried

What I yelled at the top of my lungs

The fire spreading down the stairs she yelled back

I raced over to the baby bed, and picked Hannah up her face is red from me from hollering. I yanked a blanket up from her bed and wrapped around Hannah. Walked over to my sister Brianna and kissed on her for four head one last time before she was gone forever.

Could tell it wasn't the fire that killed her, she was murdered, by who I don't know but I will find out, I could tell it wasn't a fire because she had lacerations around her neck.
