Ugh. I hate this chapter. But I don't give a duck so I hope you like it.
THERESA
"Um Percy... Can I ask you something?" I asked my brother, twirling a piece of hair between my fingers.
"Sure, what is it?" He replied. We were sitting on the dock on the beach, staring into the ocean.
"Did you ever get that feeling when you like someone, but you're not sure if they like you back?" Percy didn't answer right away.
"Why? Who do you like?" He asked finally.
"None of your business!" I snapped. Percy raised his hands. "Sorry." I muttered.
"So, uh, why are you asking me this?" Percy said. I continued to play with my hair nervously.
"Well, lets say that my 'friend' a crush on this guy, and he kinda acts like he likes her, but she can't tell for sure. What does she do?" Percy and I didn't make eye contact. I could tell that he didn't know how to answer.
"Look, I'll just ask Annabeth or someone from the Aphrodite cabin..." I started to stand up, but Percy wrapped his arms around my legs.
"No... I want to spend time with my baby sister!" He complained. I laughed and sat back down beside Percy.
"You know, I think that I'm older than you." I told him. He looked offended.
"No! I know that I'm older! When's your birthday?" He asked.
"September 18th." I said.
"No way! I'm exactly one month older than you! Mine's August 18th. Yay! I'm older!" Percy did a little dance. I couldn't help laughing.
"Ok, ok, you're older! Congratulations!" I laughed. Percy smiled. After it was silent for a while, I decided to ask Percy something that had been on my mind.
"Um... Leo told me that, a couple months ago... You and Annabeth fell into Tartarus. Is that true, or was he just making it up?" I said. Percy's smile fell. That's how I knew that it was true.
"Yeah. Us and a couple other demigods were on a huge quest. Annabeth fell in, I tried to save her, then we both fell in. Worst time of my whole life." He said.
"Well... Um, at least you saved her. Uh... You did save her, right? Like, at the end?" I asked. Percy shrugged.
"I guess." He said. I could tell that he didn't like talking about it.
"So..." I tried to think of something to change the subject, but I didn't have to.
"You know what?" Percy asked. "You've known who your parent is for a whole day and you haven't tried your powers yet." I looked at him, confused.
"What powers?" I asked. Percy smirked.
"I'll show you." Before I could ask him what he meant, Percy pushed me into the cold water. I had just enough time to get a mouthful of air before hitting the water. Percy jumped in beside me.
"Breathe." He said, surprisingly very clearly. I wondered how he could speak underwater. I shook my head.
"Breathe." Percy said again. I didn't do it. But when my lungs felt like they were going to explode, I took a breath. Water filled my lungs, and I started to breath normally. I looked at Percy.
"What the..." I said, looking down. My clothes were completely dry.
"How?" I asked.
"You're the daughter of Poseidon. You can breathe underwater." He said. I swam back to the surface, Percy following me. I touched my hair, and it was dry.
