The drive was long. He took a lot of back roads that I've never seen before.

After a good hour we were in a woodsy area.

"So are you excited" he turned to look at me for a second and continued his attention at the road.

"Not really, I'm more nervous if anything" the sound of him laugh ended the silence that was going on between us.

"You're cute ya know that"

"N-no one ever told me that before" I started to notice the time.

10:00

It really was a long drive. The area around me was very unfamiliar too.

"How long until we get there"

"Were almost there" the truck pulled up to a spot that had a little open area.

There were cars all over the place and there were people drinking, eating and dancing.

"Wow, this is my first party" getting out the car I walked over to dylan and stayed close to him.

"Who's your puppy dylan" we both turned around to his friends.

They wore their red varsity jackets and jeans. They smelled of alcohol and weed. Their eyes were low and heavy too.

"This is nyla" the one guy inched towards me and leveled himself with me.

"Hmm I never seen you around" he touched my hair. Pulling back from his touch I went and stood behind dylan.

"She's a little shy but I'll catch up to you guys later" watching them walk away gave me relief like no other.

People like them disgusted me and it made me happy to know dylan wasn't like them at all.

After a while I got comfortable and drank a little and danced by myself.

The cool air felt good and the way the wind made the trees speak when blown amazed me.

I never got out the house much but this was fun. Maybe I can go on another date with dylan but together alone.

I knew it was getting late because some people left already and its probably been a couple of hours since I got here.

"Hey nyla I can't believe you're here" my body froze and the voice I knew too well. My feet refused to move so I can face the monster behind me. But I made myself move.

"Yea I'm here"

"Cool well since your here can you get some more wood the fires dying out and I'm busy" the smile plastered on her face was as fake as the hair, nails, and jewelry she had.

But I ignored it and went to get the wood. Not because she told me too but because I needed some time away from the party.

It was dark and hard to see. I could hear the leaves crush under my feet as I took steps further into the darkness of the woods.

The pile of wood was stacked against a big tree in the woods.

I went so far out I could barely see the fire at the party.

Picking up sticks and wood I looked up at the sky and watches the moon glow and the start twinkle.

It felt good to see things like this outside instead of staring out my window like I always do.

It felt refreshing. Zena said we get energy from everything and anything around us. I never knew what she ment but maybe this is it.

"Hurry up the fires dying" hearing Brooke's voice in the distance I hurried up and made my way back.

It was dark and I knew this is where the party was so where did everyone go?

A thud echoed in the woods when I let the wood and sticks fall out my arms.

"Hello?" Looking around to find everyones car lights turned on and shined on me.

"Ohhh you really thought we was gonna let you hang with us the whole time"

Brooke

Another voice spoke up. "Sorry but parties over for you"

My head turned towards dylan who face was looking at the ground.

"Nyla I'm sorry I didn't know"

"Its ok it not your f-"

"I didn't know you would be so gullible" a loud laugh silenced me and everyone else joined in.

I stood in the woods surrounded by cars and laughter.

Humiliation was what I felt. My emotions swarmed around and I was too confused to think.

"Hope you like the walk home"

Brooke walked with confidence to the truck I rode here in.

Dylan wrapped his arm around her and kissed her.

Zena was right.

"Bye"

The sounds of cars starting up and driving off interrupted my thoughts. Then the noise began to drift off into the distance.

My knees hit the ground in utter disbelief.

Plain stupid. To think people would actually like me.

Tears rolled from my eyes down my face. I watched as they hit my hands. I'm so foolish.

"I should have listened zena"

Carefully I stood up. Zena will be mad if I don't return home soon. And it looked like it could almost be 4:00

Finding the rode they took I walked on the side of it.

The wind started to pick up and rain started to pour down heavy. Dark gray clouds started to fill the sky and a small rumble came.

My fear of thunder was starting to kick in. Anxiety and fear was what would over whelm me if I don't find shelter soon.

I kept going on the rode until I reached a small gas station with a payphone.

My legs suddenly had a mind of their own as they took me to the payphone in a second. "Please pick up" I put the money in and dialed zena number. It continued to ring and ring.

"Hello"

"Zena, you were right" I broke down on the phone crying nonstop.

"I'll be there soon don't worry"

Hanging up the phone. I sat in the phone booth waiting for zena to come and take me away from the nightmares like she always did.
