Chapter 2

Lukas studied the report the private investigator he hired handed him a while ago. The folder contained thorough information about the man who occupied his thoughts for the last five months.

One of the files informed Lukas that yes, Cade hadn’t been lying. Cade Martin, the only son of Senior Ricardo was, indeed, engaged to his girlfriend for two years, Kate Morgan.

If Cade wasn’t too busy managing the Photography Studio he opened after finishing his Business Degree, he’ll occupy himself by reading books. He likes reading while listening to pop music. Every Saturday evening, Cade goes to his fiancée's apartment to pick her up for a romantic date for two on different well known restaurants around L.A.

Lukas observed a picture of Cade taken while the young man was listening to music through his headphones. A huge camera can be found lying beside him on the table.

Even though it’s just a picture, Lukas can’t deny the effect Cade has on him. Lukas traced the outline of Cade’s lips with his fingertip and smiled to himself.

 

I waited so long for you. We’ll be together very soon. I promise I won’t cheat on you the way this slut did.

Lukas’ vision darkened when he spotted the picture of Kate, Cade’s fiancée, making out with another man. The investigator said Kate had been involved with the guy in the picture for two months now.

Lukas patiently waited for five months to straighten everything up before facing Cade again. However, Lukas still had no idea how to approach the man. Lukas has no doubt that if Cade will just give him a chance to prove himself, the young man will like him.

Lukas’ cellphone rang. He pressed the speaker phone and his secretary’s voice echoed in his office. “Sir, Mr. Fox is on line one.”

Lukas told his secretary to connect the call. “Hey, Eugene, did you seal the deal with the owner of the building?” Lukas asked his friend and the head of the legal department and in-charge on the acquisition of properties likely to be used as investments.

Eugene told him that the owner of the building agreed to sell the establishment in a much cheaper price if the transaction can be settled as soon as possible.

Lukas immediately called Senior Ricardo, asking him to prepare the money needed to buy the commercial building he and Eugene was talking about.

Cade got out of his Subaru Forester and found an unknown Porsche Boxster parked in front of their house. Their helper told him that his dad has a visitor.

Having no reason to disturb his father, Cade decided to go to the dining room instead, but passing through the study room, Cade heard someone shouting, the voice definitely not his dad’s.

“Let me get this straight! You invested my one and a half million dollars on some scam and now, everything’s fucking gone? How could you have been so stupid?” a fuming Lukas screamed, overlooking the fact that Ricardo was half his senior.
