Ash was in the basement. He was sweaty and he had his boxing gloves on, and he's been punching the bag continuously. He didn't stop even when his mom showed up.

"Ash? Dinner is ready."

"I'm coming." He kept punching. Misty is your sister, dummy! Stop thinking about her body!

"Ash, come on, it's going to get cold." Stop. Thinking. About. Misty.

"I said I'm coming!" He punched harder. If she's my sister, why do I keep getting these thoughts?

"Your father will get mad. Come on, sweetie."

"FINE! I LIKE HER!" Ash punched hard and sent the punching bag flying in the opposite direction. He quickly turned around and snapped at  his mom. "What? What's going on?"

His mom pointed behind him. "Be care-"

BAM!

Ash felt the punching bag hit him very hard on the right side of his body and face. His mom ran to him because as he was caught off guard, the hit made him fall.

"Oh my God, sweetie! Are you okay? You're never careful!"

"I'm fine! It happens all the time." This time, though, the hit was a little too hard. He was positive his cheek was going to swell. Crap.

"What's going on here? I heard yelling."

"Ash-"

"Pffft! Stop treating him like a girl! He's a man!"

Ash's mom rolled her eyes and helped him up. "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine. It happens all the time." Ash took off his gloves. "I'll join you once I'm done with the shower."

"This boy won't just grow up!" Mr. Ketchum moved his hand in a dismissive way as he walked out of the basement. "Come on, Delia, we're hungry!"

"Your stomach is all you think about!" His wife followed after him.

"What would I think of then? Huh?"

"Me, for example!" Ash heard her as he walked up the stairs. It made him smile.

"Oh, please, if I think about your food, it means I'm thinking about you!"

Nice one, dad Ash walked out of the basement and made his way quickly to his bedroom. He thought he should give Misty a call about tonight, since they had plans of studying with each other for the math exam.

He spoke up as soon as she picked up. "Hey, Mist! Are you coming tonight?"

What—what? Tonight? What do you mean by tonight? What for?

Ash blinked. "I thought we were studying together?"

Misty internally gasped. How could she think of such thing?

She placed the mini Oreo cookie back into the cup. "Oh-oh, right, sorry—I thought—I forgot."

You didn't make other plans, did you?

"Kind of..."

He can't be seriously ignoring what happened... Misty cleared her throat. Maybe he didn't see anything, after all? It was just a glance, and he was too quick with sliding the curtain shut. Maybe he didn't see much.

You came up with something with the girls, right?

"Uhmm..."

Misty was just not ready to see Ash again. She had no idea why. She felt a mix of emotions.

Okaaay, fine. Let's leave it for tomorrow. How did the jeans turn out to be?

"Good." Misty will never forget those jeans, ever.

Next time, it's my turn!

Misty's face reddened. His turn?

I have to shower. Mom's yelling is all over the house. I'll call later. Okay?

"Okay then. Bye."

Bye Mist.

Misty groaned after she hung up. She was going crazy! Why was she feeling so confused like this?

She liked Ash.

She never thought the day she'd get a crush on her best friend and brother would actually come. He's even told her about his crushes before. He would never feel the same!

The game was already over for Misty, before it even starts. There was no way he'd like her someday:

- She was crazy about food. Misty eats straight from the packet and her drawers are full of chocolate and chips. Food can't be left alone with her.

- She rarely brushes her hair, so it's always either in a ponytail, either in a bun. Washing hair is a disaster.

- She shaves once a month — and only visible parts.

- She never gets her eyebrows and peach fuzz waxed on time. Her mom has to make the comment before she decides to take care of her plucking business.

- She never washes her bras.

- When she burps loudly, she feels a weird satisfaction from it.

- She squeezes blackheads and pimples continuously.

And the list goes on.

She was disgusting. Why would ever Ash like a girl like her?

Honestly, Misty might give Ash a heart attack if he spends two or three days with her. She was nothing like the girl he thought she was. Of course, he has slept over before and vice versa, but that was back in elementary school. Misty was a cute little girl (her mom brushed her hair back then), and Ash was a cute little boy.

He was still cute, honestly. Uhm, well, hot, maybe?

Misty sighed heavily. This was too much for her. First, Ash sees her naked, second, she feels self-conscious, third, she likes it a little bit, and fourth, she realizes she likes Ash. The redhead reached forward the mini Oreo's cup and started eating again. Why was this happening to her?

"Love is so hard..." Misty sighed again. She suddenly picked up her mirror and started examining her face, trying to track any unwanted hairs.  She glanced down and stroked her thighs. "I should go on a diet."

Misty sighed and grabbed the Oreo's cup again.

"I'll start tomorrow."

to be continued.
