Charlie's POV

*flashback*

"Hey Mum" I said to her as I walked into the kitchen

"Hey honey how was school?" She said kissing my head

"It was fine, I got an A on my test today"

"That's great"

All of a sudden the door slammed. Uh oh my dad's home. He is a drunken mess and always beats me and my brother.

"GET OUT OF MY WAY BITCH" he screams at me

I don't move fast enough so he raises his arm to slap me but my mum steps in between us.

"Get away from her Tom" she says strictly

"What are you gonna do"he slurrs with a smirk

"I am going to protect my daughter now leave"She says to him

"YOU SLUT" he screams at her

My older brother comes down and I cower behind him.

"SEE HOW YOU CAN PROTECT THEM NOW" my dad screams

He pulls out a gun and aims it at me.Just as he shoots my mum pushes me away and takes the bullet.

"MUM!!!!" I scream

"Run , go ,RUN " she shouts

My brother picks me up and he sprints outside and into the Forest next to our house.

"Josh he's coming back" I say to my brother

Just as I say that a bullet passes by my head and the sound makes my brother fall.

"C'mon charlie we have to keep going" he says to me.

We start running again but now I'm on my feet.It felt like we were running for hours and our dad was still coming.

"Josh we need to hide " I said

"Ok climb that tree I'll climb this one" he said

I looked up and saw a low branch on the tree.I jumped up and grabbed the branch pulling myself up. just as I got up a few more feet my dad stopped under the tree I was in.I held my breath and watched as he walked away.

"He's gone lets go" my brother says

I nod"should we go back to the house ?" I ask

"Yeah let's go "

We start to run to the house.

"Ok pack a backpack and duffel bag and then come downstairs" Josh says

I ran upstairs and got my duffel bag and stuffed it with clothes and shoes .
I then got my black backpack and put personal belongings in there.I ran to my parents room and grabbed my mums photos , mums locket,the money ,and my dad's gun . I stuffed those in the backpack and ran to my room. I put on red jeans,a white shirt,black converse , a black beanie and my black leather jacket. I ran downstairs with my bags.

"Let's go he should be back soon" Josh said grabbing his skateboard

I followed him grabbing my skateboard and walking outside. We rode all the way to the police station and that's were we left off.
