Chapter 1: A Regular, Boring Day

Beep! Beep! Beep!

I woke up to my alarm that wouldn't stop going off. Ugh!, I thought, hitting the snooze button, rolling over and pulling the blankets up past my head.

"DANI! Time for school!" My dad called out to me from the bottom of the staircase. Sighing, I hopped out of bed, walking on my tiptoes on the cold hardwood of my room down the hall to the bathroom. After locking the door, I stripped off my pyjamas, I stepped into the steaming water of the shower to wake myself up.

After a couple minutes, I shut off the stream and stepped out, wrapping a fluffy white towel around myself. I walked into my room and started to get ready for school; picking out an outfit with a long grey sweater that almost reached mid-thigh, black leggings, a white infinity scarf and my combat boots. My brown hair was only semi dry, so I threw it up in a messy ponytail. I never wore makeup because I was confident, and didn't believe it made girls any prettier. Girls should show their natural beauty, not a mask of caked on cover up and eyeliner. Although, I did apply a layer of my favorite strawberry lipgloss.

Making my way downstairs, I found my dad standing by the stove cooking eggs and pancakes. I quickly gave him a kiss on the cheek and sat down at the island with a plate of breakfast already cooked to perfection.

"Mornin', sweetie. How was your sleep?" he asked.

"Meh. I couldn't stop thinking about the book I've been reading! I mean, Jenna and Sean were perfect! But now that Logan's in the picture, I don't even know anymore..." I trailed off dramatically, staring off into space.

My father chuckled. "I'm sure Jenny or whatever will find her way. You better hurry up, or you'll miss the bus!"

I scarfed down the rest of my breakfast, said a quick goodbye to my dad, grabbed my bag and books and sprinted for the door, all the while trying to put on my winter jacket. I ran down the street towards my bus stop and got there just in time, right before the bus driver shut the doors.

"Hey Sylvie, sorry I'm late." I said sheepishly.

"Don't sweat it, darlin'. Wouldn't have left without ya'" the middle-aged woman driving the bus replied. Sylvie was a nice lady who had been driving this bus since I started taking it in kindergarten. She had two kids that were both in university, and she was like the mom I never had.

I walked down the aisle as the bus started rolling forward. Most of the seats were taken, considering a lot of kids from my school lived in this neighborhood. I scanned over everyone's faces, finally finding my best friend-and assistant captain of the cheerleading squad-Kate, who I quickly made my way over to, and plopped down beside her.

"Mornin', Doorman" she said with a smile.

"Seriously? That one didn't even rhyme." was my response. Kate had a tendency to make up really weird rhymes, even if they didn't make sense.

'Whatever. You ready for the big game this weekend?"

You see, every year at the beginning of the football season, our team plays against our rival school; East Lakeshore. The game has nothing to do with the rest of the season, but it still means a lot to our entire school.

"Of course! Everyone's gonna be there, so we have to practice extra hard this week." I replied with a smile. Cheer practice was everyday after school except Thursday's and of course Friday's, because that's when games are.

Within a couple of minutes, the bus pulled up to the drop off zone of my school. Everyone started piling off, and heading towards the entrance. Kate and I walked side by side, receiving a few wolf whistles and cat calls from the jocks trying to hit on us, but ignored them. Once in the school, I said a quick goodbye to Kate and headed towards my locker, which was on the second floor near the science wing.

A smile slowly spread across my face when I saw Blake's 6 foot 1 build leaning against my locker, with his arms crossed over his chest and one earbud in his ear. He pushed himself off the lockers as I neared him, pulling me in and bending down to kiss me on the lips. His kiss was slow and light, but it sent fireworks through my body.

"Good morning, beautiful" he said with a breathtaking smile.

"Good morning" was my reply as I pulled my locker open, pulling out the books I need for my first few classes.

"Did you dream about me?"

"You wish" I replied with a wink. I stretched up on my toes to give him a peck on the cheek and started walking to my English Literature class. "See you at lunch!" I shouted over my shoulder.

Considering it was the first Monday of November, classes went by pretty slowly, but not too excruciatingly. Since I only had 4 classes a semester, two before lunch and two after, I only had English and Math class to live through before lunch, which rolled around pretty quickly.

I spent lunch in the cafeteria, sitting with Kate, Blake and a few other of the decent jocks and cheerleaders, listening to the radio that the administration had set up in the corner of the room, so us highschoolers could "stay in touch with what's going on in the world".

The rest of the day went by smoothly. It was just another, regular day. Blake came over after cheer/football practice to finish up homework and watch a few movies. I fell asleep with my head on his chest halfway through Beauty and The Beast, and woke up when Blake shook my shoulder, telling me that my dad was home and making dinner in the kitchen.

"You're adorable when you sleep, you know that?" Blake whispered in my ear as we walked into the kitchen. I felt a blush creep up on my cheeks.

"You're such a creep." I said, shoving him a little.

Suddenly, the smells of chicken Alfredo filled my nose and my mouth started watering.

"That smells amazing, Mr Clarke."

Reading my thoughts, Blake breathed in the scent of his favourite meal.

"Thanks Blake." my dad replied with a smile, knowing chicken Alfredo was Blake's favourite. "Will you be staying for dinner?"

Blake pretended to look thoughtful. "Hmm, well, only if you insist..." he trailed off with a smirk.

My father dished out three plates and set them down on the placemats on our little round table.

Throughout dinner we talked about how our days went, and joked about how boring they were.

Soon the time came and Blake had to leave because it was almost black out, and he had to walk home. He only lived a couple streets down from my house, so it wasn't that bad.

After he left, I put on my pajamas and crawled in bed with one of my favourite books, Remember Me by Christopher Pike. (A/N: it's one of the best books I've ever read and I suggest you read it!). After a couple chapters, I felt my eyelids getting heavy and blackness soon took over my vision.
