This'll just have to do, Adelaide sighed as she looked herself in the mirror. She was ready for Louis' party now, though she couldn't fathom why she decided to say yes this time. Maybe it was his insistence and the hope he always had whenever he asked her. It also didn't hurt that he's super nice and super cute. Adelaide walked out of the house, saying goodbye to her parents and letting them know she'd be back later tonight.
She arrived at 8 pm sharp and the party had already begun. Louis' friends had definitely started drinking beforehand and were gyrating and making out on the dance floor. Adelaide didn't feel too comfortable but decided to integrate herself into the party little by little, beginning with a drink. She made her way to the kitchen and was confronted by multiple different bottles, some with colored glass, others with colored liquid. She read all the labels carefully, despite receiving strange looks from fellow party-goers. She couldn't help it. She was careful with what she put into her body and liked to know what was going in it. Deciding on a "light hoppy beer with malted barley and citrusy notes" that sounded the most appealing of everything, she took a seat on the living room couch where she could see the most of the party.
She sat there people watching and sipping on her drink for what seemed like days, her watch told her it had only been two and a half hours since she arrived until Louis saw her and sat down next to her.
"Addy, love. I'm so glad you actually came, I was afraid you only said yes to make me happy and then you wouldn't come. What do you think? Is this your first party?"
"I think I always knew I wasn't missing out on much, to be honest, other than free booze. And yes, it is. Possibly also my last, if I'm honest."
"Nah, I don't think it is, love. You might find someone interesting here." Adelaide laughed and disagreed.
"I'm sure if I find someone interesting, they won't find me interesting!"
"Oh, Addy," Louis sighed. "I'll see you later." And with a kiss to her forehead, he left her alone once again.
The conversation made Adelaide think. Could she really find someone she'd be interested in at one of these parties? Amongst all the drunk couples or high non couples and everything in between, had she been missing out on a particular someone? Would she even want someone who frequented parties she wasn't fond of? She got up, absorbed in her thoughts, trying to make her way to the nearest trashcan to dispose of her cup. She'd been here long enough and decided to leave the party.
She threw away her cup and then turned towards the door-
Damn, who is that? Adelaide was sure she'd never seen him before even though it was only his back. He was a dark haired boy- no, man- with his hair cut close on the sides but still long enough to run your fingers through, and longer on the top. The hoodie he wore had the sleeves rolled up, showing the impeccably done tattoos he had running up his arms, from her angle, she could see the tail of a tiger wrapping around his elbow. His broad shoulders, firm forearms and dare she say, cute, butt had her excited to see the front of him. The mystery man was talking to Niall, so she knew if he associated with the nicest guy she knew of, apart from Louis who was her closest friend, he had to be a decent guy.
Adelaide made a mental calculation of how to pass by and nonchalantly look back to see what he looked like, can you really blame me? She walked passed them, smiling back shyly at Niall who probably hadn't forgotten the incident from earlier today and acknowledged her, and took six more steps, then patted her pockets and pretended to search through her bag for her phone. She sighed loudly and turned around, walking slow enough to be able to get a good look at mystery man as she passed by.
What in the ever-living crap? He looked exactly like Niall and James except his hair was brown. Well, he looked more like James with the tatt- Oh my gosh. Really, Adelaide? Did you just hit on the worst boy on campus? The good part was that it only further cemented her previous mentality that she wasn't missing anything at these parties.
