I screamed as I jumped off the bench which I was laying on. Sweat dribbled off my forehead as I tried to recollect my inexistent breath. Suddenly, there was a huge rumble of thunder competing to be heard over the sound of the heavy storm, the wind howled violently in to the shed, making me shiver from the cold. I glanced around nervously, feeling as though there were eyes staring at me, but I came across nothing that sparked an interest.
Suddenly, there was another rumble of thunder in the sky, making me jump on the spot and clutch my rapidly beating heart. Wow, I get scared easily. I shook my head from my thoughts and slowly I climbed up on to my feet. Walking to the edge of the shed, I craned my head around one of the sheds' stabilisers and scanned the surrounding area. All my eyes fell upon was the drenched, earthy ground, the bright strikes of lightning attacking the Earth and the somewhat distant woods that stretched before me.
Hearing a snap of a twig in the distance, I glanced around to the right to see if I can pinpoint where the source of the sound came from. Then I saw him. The tall man started to stalk towards me, his long black coat dragging on the ground as he did so and as he came closer and closer towards me, I became increasingly aware of the blood stains that decorated his front half.
Panicked, I exited the tin shed in a rush and dared to run in to the merciless bitter wind. The rain started to sting my face as I tried to run closer to the woods, wanting to hide from the man who was without a doubt getting uncomfortably closer to my disgruntled figure. My feet pounded hard against the damp ground until suddenly I lost my footing and feel backwards on to my back.
I groaned lowly and attempted to jump back on to my feet but before I could the man jumped on top of me and straddled me to the ground. I squirmed and kicked out as much as I could but the man easily kept me down. Eventually I stopped moving and squinted through my eyes trying to get a good look at the man. All I could really pick up on was his strong yet prominent jawline and that his thin lips were quirked in to a smirk. Oh no, that can’t be good.
“I wonder what demon blood tastes like,” the man almost hummed above me as he started to move his mouth closer and closer to my neck. Realising what he was and what he was trying to do, I started to kick and thrash, trying desperately to knock the vampire off me. The vampire grunted on top of me as he moved his hands to grip my neck, but just as his hand got close enough I bit him, hard.
I heard him scream in pain before I felt the metallic taste of blood flow freely on to my tongue. The vampire ripped his hand from my mouth and I decided to take this as an opportunity to kick him further away from me. My foot collided with his hard chest and I watched as his injured figure was thrown about ten metres away from where I am now. Not wanting to waste another moment, I jumped to my feet and started running in the opposite direction and as I did so I could almost swear that the rain started pouring down harder.
Soon enough I stumbled in to the town again, light given from the lamp posts reflected brightly off the puddle covered road. I staggered towards the closest house and knocked impatiently, wanting to desperately get inside and yet for a little while. The door was yanked open by a young boy who looked to only be about six years old. His blond hair fell freely in to his bright hazel eyes as he looked up at me and shot me a dimpled smile.
“Who are you?” He asked softly. Just then a woman who was about a head shorter than me walked calmly to the door. A floral apron was covering her front and her bright blond curly blond hair was frizzed all around her face. The woman frowned at me in concern and beckoned for her son to walk back inside the house.
“Can I help you?” The woman asked curtly. I gulped and look behind me nervously, wanting to see whether or not the rain had died down enough for me to be able to stay outside. “Umm…” I turned back to face her and scratched the back of my neck nervously before starting to bite my lip. “I must have the wrong address. Sorry to have bothered you miss.” I said nervously before glancing back behind me, indeed noticing that the rain had died down slightly.
The woman nodded at me before slowly closing the wooden door. Turning away, I started to walk back in to the street. I glanced around nervously before starting to jog further down the road. I stopped at the end of the road before glazing at the sign that stood proudly at the intersection. So I can either go right which leads towards the woods, or I could go left, which also leads to more woods.
After an intense decision, which involved tick tack toe, I decided that I would move towards the right, I broke out in to a jog and as soon as I was safely inside, I shifted in to my wolf. I almost howled in joy as my legs stretched out far as I reached my top speed. The rain still splattered on to my face as I ran, everything that I passed became a blur to my sensitive vision and I found even more joy in the feeling of my paws sinking deeply in to the mud beneath my paws.
I kept running for hours, and for every hour that passed, I became increasingly concerned about where I was. Eventually, I had to stop myself from running to have a rest, but I was still on edge, I could almost feel eyes burning in to me. Not sure whether or not I was just being paranoid, I took a giant whiff of the air, wanting to see if I could pick up on any scents. Satisfied at the lack of supernatural scents in the area, I rested my head on top of my front paws and closed my eyes to rest. But in my state of peacefulness, something just had to come out and disturb me.
“It’s not smart for you to be out here alone.”
