I jumped from my state of tiredness and stared at the hooded figure in shock, the thing that disturbed me the most is that I knew who it was. It was the man that had spoken to me before from when we were at the park, and that the vampire that attacked me was smirking behind him. I growled loudly at the both of them before shaking my soaked, dirt covered coat, letting the water fly freely from my fur.

“Shift,” the mysterious man spoke casually while he started to lean against the tree that stood tall beside him. The vampire just crossed his arms over his chest and continued to smirk at me wickedly. I growled even louder at the pair of them before attempting to take a step away, but as I did, the man from before just decided to take two more steps towards me with an amused chuckle escaping his lips.

My ears tucked themselves down in to my thick coat as I growled even louder at the two intimidating figures that stood in front of me, making them both just smirk at me knowingly. The vampire took a step towards me and before I realized what he was trying to do to me he jumped. My back collided roughly with the ground and my head throbbed badly as it was shoved against a stone.

I winced in pain and struggled as hard as I could as I felt both of the vampires cold hands grasp my throat. Desperately, I tried to bite him; I tried everything I could at that moment to try to throw the vampire off me. In the background I could hear the mysterious man chuckle, but nevertheless I could still detect an ounce of concern hidden deep inside his chuckle.

As the air escaped my lungs, I regretfully shifted back to my human form. The vampire released his grip on my throat but only so then he could pull me to my feet and literally drag me towards the hooded man. Once we were in front of him I could feel the man’s eyes scan over my body, but not in a perverted way, it felt as though he was searching for something, some sort of sign.

“You chose the hard way Heather. When your around me just remember that when I tell you to do something, you do it. It’ll make it easier for the both of us that way,” the man said while staring me directly in the eyes. I gasped as I realized that the man’s eyes were glowing a bright violet, it was almost blinding. “Do you agree?”

I almost said yes, almost being the keyword. I shook my head vigorously and shot an angry glare at the man. “No,” I spat angrily, the man frowned down at me and I felt the vampires grip on my shoulders tighten considerably. “Let me go.” He chuckled at me again and I felt the man’s arms start to grasp on to my hips tightly. I shot him a panicked look and tried to wiggle out of both the vampires and the man’s grasp but the vampire pulled me to his chest and held me there tightly.

“You really have no idea with what you can do, do you?” the man chuckled darkly, causing me to glare harder at him, if that was possible. The vampire behind me dug his head in to the left side of my neck, making me stiffen, afraid that he was going to try to bite me, and I went even tenser as I felt him take a deep whiff of my scent. The man in front of me stiffened as well but I guess he could hide it better than I could.

“Dante, calm down, control yourself,” the mysterious man spoke to the vampire, but instead of using the people skills which I believed that he could possibly possess, he decided to throw me towards the ground and lunge at the man that once stood before me. The man widened his stance as he welcomed the additional weight that came with a blood-thirsty vampire.

I was mesmerized watching them, the pair of them moved gracefully as they thought one another. Throwing one elegant punch, followed by another, it was so fascinating and intriguing, something that I couldn’t even word or ever demonstrate. I was snapped out of my daze as the mysterious man pinned Dante to the ground and placed his right hand on the vampire’s forehead and the other on his chest….Where his heart was supposed to be.

The man’s eyes illuminated the cold forest as they glowed an extremely bright violet and the vampire that lay underneath him stopped moving altogether. I gasped and scrambled to my feet as the mysterious man turned towards me, his eyes still glowing impossibly bright. Stumbling, I lost my balance and fell flat on the ground, my eyes never leaving the figure that was slowly descending upon me.

Before I could get back on to my feet, the man grabbed me by the scruff of my shirt and lifted me so high up off the ground that I could swing my legs back and forth freely without banging into anything. I stared at him in fear as he started to grin at me from underneath his dark hood. “Now you see why it’s better to just do what I say demon?”
