Mia's POV
I woke up Monday morning and drug myself out of bed. I got dressed and I pulled my hair up into a messy bun. I put on some makeup and picked up my bookbag. I went downstairs to the kitchen to get my to go cup of coffee that mom makes me. I walked into the kitchen and my mother was pouring creamer into my coffee. I walked over and kissed her on the cheek.
"Thanks momma." I smiled
"Before you go I need to talk to you." She said
"Alright. What about?" I asked
"Your father wants to go with you to America to see Alex." She said
"No way. I'm not spending my vacation with that prick." I sassed
"Mia please I know you and your father don't get along the best but you need to at least try." She frowned
"Mom, Calum is waiting for me. Can we talk about this later?" I said
"Fine. Have good day I love you." She huffed
"Love you too mom." I said walking out the front doorCalum's car was sitting in the driveway. I walked over and got into the passenger side.
"Good morning." Calum chirped as he backed the car out onto the street
"Morning." I groaned
"Well you seem happy." He laughed
"Cal, my dad wants to go with me to see Alex in June." I said
"Oh shit really?" He asked
"Yeah. I'm not going if he is. I understand my mom wants me to get along with him but I'm not in the mood." I said
"It will be alright Mia." He said
"Hopefully." I saidI put on my sunglasses and slid down in my seat. I sipped on my coffee and listened to the radio. I hummed along with the one direction song playing on the radio. I looked out the window and saw the sunshine, blue skies, and the tall buildings. After 20 minutes we drove into the school parking lot. I saw Michael's car and I thought about what happened Saturday night. We got out and walked into the school. I walked ahead of Calum and went to my locker. I looked to my left and saw Michael making out with a blonde haired girl. I felt my heart break.
"Mia what's wrong?" Calum said
I remembered I hadn't told anyone.
"Nothing just thinking about my dad." I said
I quickly shut my locker and went to first period. I walked into Mr. Jacobs class. There was about 5 minutes left before the bell rang. Michael walked in and sat in the seat next to me."Hey Mia."
"Hi." I said
"So about Saturday night-"
"Michael just forget about it. Clearly it didn't mean anything if you were shoving your tongue down some girl's throat already." I spat
"Mia please let me explain." He begged
"You did enough, now just stop." I saidI stood up and walked out of the classroom. I walked down the hall passing my group of friends.
"Oh hey Mia- wait where are you going?" Rebecca asked
"Leaving."
I stopped and turned around to look at my friends.
"Why?" She asked
"Ask Michael he'll gladly tell you." I said
I turned around and kept walking. I walked right out the back door of the school. Our school is so big that the teachers don't notice if they're missing a student. I walked to the park down the street. I threw my book bag down and sat down on one of the swings. I kicked up the dirt at my feet. I wondered why all of this had to happen. Michael made me feel happy but why would he kiss me and leave me waiting? Then go make out with some girl. I understand we were not anything but it still hurts."Mia."
"Calum don't."
"Mia please he didn't mean to hurt you."
"I don't care Calum. He still did so I guess he didn't care that he did."
"Mia stop!"
Calum yelled at me. He never does and he never has. I was honestly scared.
"Just leave me alone."
"Please just listen to Michael."
"Please just leave me alone."I stood up and picked up my bag. I slung it over my shoulder and walked away. I couldn't stay because I knew that everyone was going to take Michael's side. I wasn't putting up with it. I went downtown because the library was there and I just wanted to be left alone to read. No one really knew that I went to the library. When I was sad and wanted to be alone I would go and go to the top floor where it was really quiet. Not many people came up there so it was peaceful. They had big windows in the back and I sit in front of them and look below at the cars moving, people walking, and everything else happening. I got to the library and went straight up to the 5th floor. I went to the back and saw it was empty. I sat on one of the comfortable chairs in the corner. I pulled out my phone and put my earbuds in. I turned on my music and pulled out my Edgar Allen Poe book. I started reading and my phone buzzed. I picked it up and looked at the screen. I had a new text message.
