Five minutes past and I was still staring at her phone. Why was someone threatening Laela? More importantly, why didn't she inform me? We told each other everything and something as serious as this she would choose to hide.

However I didn't have time to be angry of her secrecy, I was terrified. Terrified for her.

How long was this going on? What did this person want? I suddenly had the urge to wake Laela but she never liked when I did that. She was also sleeping so peacefully; it wouldn't be nice of me to wake her to hear this news.

I wasn't able to continue my TV show because all I could think about was that message.

"It's okay Laela. I will always have your back," I whispered as I laid down to rest next to her. It was then I realized I was having trouble sleeping as well.

I woke up the next morning to an empty space beside me and a note. I couldn't believe she left.

Sorry I had to leave so soon. Mom called. She said it was an emergency. Xo.

My gut was telling me it had to be a lie but Laela rarely lied to me. It was only this secret stalker she chose to hide. And yes, of all things, this was the secret she chose to keep from me. Idiot.

As I was about to call her, my mom called from downstairs.

"Jennaa, could you take Theo to his playdate today?" She yelled. My schedule was free today - actually it was free everyday and I never did mind spending time with my little brother. He was my 3 foot bundle of joy.

"Sure."

I buckled Theo in the backseat of mine and Jace's shared car. One of the many disadvantages of being twins. He used it much more than I did however because he was the more popular between both of us.

Also August would sometimes pick me up when I called him, so I didn't really mind.

We pulled up to Theo's playdate's house a few blocks away. The way he struggled to get out of the straps I could tell he was excited. This had to be one of his new friends from preschool because I haven't been here before.

Walking along the pathway to the front door, hand in hand with Theo, I marvelled at the house before me. It was beautiful. I could even see a swimming pool at the side of the three-storey house.

This house wasn't on the route I took to school so I hadn't noticed it before.

After three knocks the door immediately opened. My eyes widened at the figure before me. He was simply majestic. His blue eyes stared into my soul and I could feel my face heat up by the mere sight of him. He hovered over me at a height that was definitely a bit over 6 foot.

"Take a picture why don't you? It lasts longer." My thoughts were cut off and all I could do was blush. His British accent played along with his words and it only added to his beauty.

I didn't want to seem inferior however so I quickly thought of a response.

"Jenna Powers," I said as I outstretched my hand for him to take, "I haven't seen you around here before, did your family move in recently?"

"Yes, a couple of months ago actually. What brings you here Jenna Powers?" He asked with a smirk.

"The play date," motioning to Theo, "did I get the wrong house?"

"Oh, no, let me go fetch Hailey."

With that last line he closed the door and left me standing there. With Theo. Outside.

The door opened again and I came upon his sculptured face once more. However I only had a confused look on my face this time around.

"I'm so sorry, I've seemed to have lost my manners," he looked at me with pure sincerity in his clear blue eyes.

"Please, come in."
