The orphan

Mary Ann

I stood there in front of that god awful place waiting for something to happen. But nothing did. "AHHHHH" I screamed at the top of my lungs. "Where do I go now?" I aksed to myself.

I started walk going where ever my legs take me. Thinking to myself what should I do or make a plan. I stumbled upon a town. Seeing people I've never seen before. Rich and poor people. Kids in the streets begging for money, or for food. Kids skateboarding on sidewalks. "Dear? Are you okay?" I heard a soft calming voice behind me. I turned around, seeing an old lady with puffy, curly gray hair, and deep brown eyes.
"Are you alright de--- oh goodness darling you're bleeding. Let me take care ok that." Startled I backed up slowly not know what to do or say. The lady seemed so kind. But I don't know her. Her face became to look puzzled. "It's alright dear, I won't hurt ya." She said holding out her hand. I didn't move. "I'm Mary Ann, I live just down the street. Please let me help you?" Letting my fears go away I grabbed her hand and began to speak "I'm Mina.....where am I?"
     "You're in midland. Where are your parents?"
      "They're dead....." I said horsely swollowing hard at the dryness of my mouth.
   
       Mary Ann took me to her place a nice little house made out of wood and brick. It's cute I thought to myself. "So where do you live?" Mary Ann said giving me a cup of water. "I don't have a home...."
     "I'm gonna turn the news on. I like to catch up on some news." She turns and grabs the remote and turns on a little square television. It was all okay until the news came to an outbreak at the orphanage. Mary Ann turned her head towards me as soon as they said my name. I looked down at the floor disappointed in myself. She shut the T.V off and stood up and walked her way towards me. Putting a hand on my shoulder she said "tell me everything"
