Adam's POV:

Beep beep, beep beep, beep beep

The alarm echoes in my head as I nuzzled myself further into the pillow. As much as I love work, I hate the waking up early. Especially as I was at the offices until 3 a.m that morning recording. I could still taste hot sauce, the sizzle of yesterday had now been mild down to a dull throb. Barney had had the best idea to do a Hot Sauce challenge early in the morning. It took a lot longer than we expected.

I reluctantly rolled out of bed and half walked, half crawled to the bathroom. I took one glance at the mirror and immediately regretted my decision. I'd managed to transform myself into Lumberjack Sky overnight: a week's worth of stubble pin pricked over my jaw. My eyes were glazed with the sleep I was still trying to shake off and my hair had gone from just brushing my cheeks to shoulder length. The look surprised me.

When was the last time I looked in a mirror?

I just shook my head and opened the cupboard that the mirror is attached to. After some half-hearted trying, I managed to find the scissors. The cold metal glinted in the harsh light of the bathroom as I shut the cupboard door allowing me access to the mirror. I leaned over the sink to catch the hair I cut off. The tool made a satisfying snip as it made it's way around my head, having to practically bend over backwards to get the hair trying to escape. Finished, I looked up. My dark curls were still scruffy, but nothing a beanie couldn't fix. I decided to leave the stubble; at least it gave me something to joke about in my videos.

Feeling satisfied, I hopped in the shower, letting last night's stress melt away. The water woke me up properly, and I relaxed to the pitter-patter of the drops. Do I need to go any more details? Drying off with a towel, I headed back to my room. On the way I heard Alesa downstairs accompanied by the sizzle of pancakes in the frying pan. I smiled to myself silently as I shut the door. I got myself ready, getting changed and whatnot. I was especially glad when I brushed my teeth, replacing the spicy sauce with minty Colgate.

I jogged downstairs, the sleep that had followed me like a shadow all morning now shrugged off completely. I saw Alesa eating a fresh pancake at the island in the kitchen, her back to me. I decided that this would be the perfect opportunity for a surprise.

Stealthily, I snuck up behind her, not making a sound. 10 ft, 7 ft, 4 ft, 1 ft. Now within reaching distance, I raised my hands and simultaneously opened my mouth to make a "BOO!" when she says, not even turning around:

"Adam, I know your there..."

I let my hands flop to my side in defeat, but left my mouth open in mock shock.

"How did you know?" I asked, walking around to face her, pressing my palm flat against my chest.

"How many times have your tried that?" She tilted her head, pretending to count, "237?"

I look defeated while stifling a laugh. "238 now..."

She laughed, a sound that still gives me butterflies. She gave me a quick peck on the cheek as she stood up then headed to wash up her plate. I walked over to the coat-stand to get my jacket and shrugged it on.

"I'd better be off..." I say sadly, although I was excited to get to work. We had plans for a new series and we were starting it today. A new role play for a book called the Gone series. I'd be playing a boy named Sam Temple.

"Aren't you going to stay for breakfast?" She asks, genuine sadness flickered over her features.

"I would, but I already pressed my snooze button a gazillion times. Love you!" I called as I rushed out of the door. I shut it behind me just in time to hear her reply, mirroring my last words. Jogging for the second time that day down the drive, I flung open my car door and started the ignition.

Time for another normal day at the Offices. Or.... As normal as it can get.

Oh, how wrong I was.
