My eyes shot open and my heart started to race. It took a few seconds for my eyes to adjust before I realized where I was, but my heart didn't stop pounding. For a second, I had no memories of anything. It was blank.

My name is Martha.
They call me twelve.
I turned 13 one month ago.
My moms name is Alice and I have a sister called Claire.
I've been here for 17 days...or has it been 18?

Everything is so fuzzy I can't even properly remember the facts. They're the only thing keeping me from losing my mind, I repeat them 100 times a day at least. Days bleed into nights making it hard to separate them. No outside light comes into my room, and there's no clock. I can tell that a day has passed when a doctor with white hair and a lab coat comes into my room. He stands at the door with some papers and a pen and everyday he writes. He goes after a few minutes and I see him again the next day. It's not so bad I guess, I've stopped struggling and looking for a way out. Food is delivered to my room, and no one is mean. Not nice either. Professional I guess. Which makes me confused. Why did they take me here? They feed me, I have a bed, they give me games and books, they definitely didn't bring me here to kill me. I look down at my arm, at the painless tattoo I was given when I got here,
