Nakayla Point of View

A Week Later

It's been a week since Jared got killed, and my life have gotten worser. Turns out Jared has a lot of debts that he hasn't paid. And to pay for his debt that he left for me I had to sale the house and EVERYTHING inside and Jared's car. I even had to sale my clothes just to pay the rest of the debt off. So the only thing I own is the clothes on my back.

Yes I'm a Widow, and to top it off I don't have no where to go.

I ran away with Jared when I was 17 and moved in with him and a year later I got in the mail that my father died from a heart attack and my mom died from to much stress. I wish I could have been there for my parents like they was always there for me.

I am the only child so I have no brothers or sisters. My mom grow up in an foster home until she turned 18, and my dad was the only child also and his mom died giving birth and his dad died of old age.

So it's just me.

"Miss today is your last day here." The manager of the homeless shelter informed me.

I nodded in understanding what she was saying.

I been living in different homeless shelters this whole week and they only let you stay for 2 or 3 days.

I sighed getting out of the  small twin old bed I was laying in.

"You can go get a bowl of stew they are making in the cafeteria.

"Ok thank you." I smiled making my way to the cafeteria.

After I ate the stew I made my way out the shelter.

Gripping my jacket tighter and closer to my body as the cold breeze brushed my face.

I started walking not knowing where I was going but it's not like I have somewhere to go.

==============

It is pitch black outside and I am still walking. My belly been growling for the past two hours it felt like. I decided to stop walking and lean up against a pole in front of a  corner store. Debating weather I should go up in there and try to steal some food or not.

After about five minutes giving up knowing I'm to scared to steal. I never stole in my whole 23 years of living.

"You okay?" A Hispanic lady walked up to me.

"Yes I'm fine." I shivered from the cold air.

"You not okay." She told. "You been out here standing on pole shivering." She stated. "You want some food from store?" The lady asked me but did give me a chance to answer before she grabbed my wrist leading me inside the store. "Wait here." She told me before she disappeared in the isles.

I was standing there for a good ten minutes when she reappeared at the front to check out.

"Here" she handed me a box of honeys and two brisk teas. It's the thought that counts.

"Thank you so much." I smiled shyly.

" You welcome, be safe." She walked out the store disappearing in the outside darkness.

Exiting the store myself I walked back over to the pole sitting down opening the box of honey buns that contain only 9 in it. Eating one up then opening up one of the brisk teas. Drinking about half of it before I closed it back up putting it back into the bag.

I got up from the ground and started walking again.

Can't stay at one place for to long.
