Smoke It away

Chapter 5

Nakayla Point of View

The club was packed when we pulled up. He parked in the back of the club getting out as I followed behind.

"Boss." I called out to him not knowing his name.

He turned around and smiled at me. His smile made me smile. 

Looking down quickly as my cheeks started to get hot as he stared at me with a big Kool-aid smile.

"Yes?" He finally answered me.

"What do I clean first?"

"Oh um... You can start with cleaning tables when people leave from them. And if there is like a mess on the ground clean that up too." He told me.

"Ok, yes boss." 

"Are you trying to be funny?" He chuckled with a questionable expression on his face.

"No why would you say that?" I asked because I really wasn't trying to be funny he is my boss now. "I'm sorry if it came out that way." I started to feel bad.

"Nah, don't feel bad. I just like how you call me boss." He winked at me. 

I started to smile as my cheeks felt like they were on fire.

We started to walk again and into the club.

It's closing time and I'm tired as hell. This is my first time having a job and working this hard. I mean yeah when Jared was still alive and we lived together I would clean the house but the house never really got messy because it was just us two. And when I lived with my parents, my parents wanted me to just focus on school, so I didn't have a job either.

But anyways I was sweepimg the last of the trash on the floor when June and Sam walked up to me.

"So how was your first day?" June smiled at me.

"Tough." I emptied out the dustpan full of trash in the trash can.

" Yeah, same for us when we first started working here. It will get  better. But I'm bout to head out I'll see you tomorrow." Sam patted me on the shoulder walking off.

"He's my ride so I'll see you later girl." June gave me a quick side hug, then disappeared out the club.

The rest of the employees left including the cleaning group after about thirty minutes. I was the last one left other than Boss, but he was up stairs.

I made my way up the spiral stair case and up to Boss office door.

"Boss, I'm finished..." My words was cut short when I saw him sitting in his office chair getting head from a female. 

"GET THE FUCK OUT!" He yelled at me.

"I'm sorry." I quickly closed the door. Now I know what June meant when I first came here when she said "knock first on Boss door."

 I don't know why but I felt hurt. I didn't like seeing another female with him. I know I just meet him and we not together or anything but it was just how I felt.

I ran down the stairs and out the back door to the back parking lot. I sat down on the curb placing my head between my knees.

I signed looking up at the sky. 

"I miss you mommy and daddy." A single tear slide down my cheek as I wiped it away and began walking. 

'I bet he's going to fire me now.' I thought as I walked on the sidewalk not knowing where I was going.

Tears started to  blur my vision. 

I can't believe I lost my first job already I cried harder, not caring who saw me.

Water started to hit my face and it wasn't from my tears. It was started to rain.

The rain pace began to pick up and before I knew it, it started rainy hard as hell.

"TODAY CANT GET WORSE THAN THIS!" I yelled as I started to cry harder. 

Cars pasted me as water splashed me. 

"Nakayla!" I heard my name being called.

Looking around seeing a car pulled up next to me.

"Boss?" I questioned. Not really sure if it was him or not, because it was dark and to top it off it was raining extra hard.

"Yeah now get yo ass in this car!" He yelled at me from the car.

"What's the point your already gonna fire me!" I yelled back.

"Did I say I was going to fire you? No so get yo ass in here!"

I nodded walking over to the car getting in.

The car ride was silent, before I broke it.

"I'm sorry I walked in on you." 

He just nodded pulling into target parking lot.

I stayed seated not knowing if I should get out our not.

"Come on." Boss opened my door.

I nodded getting out.

I followed behind him not sure why we was here.

We made our way over to the clothes area.

"Find a couple of outfits and  sleepwear for yourself. I nodded and did as he told me to.

After we finished checking out he told me to go put on the clothes in the dressing room, since I was still soaking wet.

Boss stood outside while I went in and changed.

After I got dressed we went back to the car.

Ten minutes later we pull at sonic.

He ordered what he wanted then turning his attention to me.

"What you want?"

"You don't..."

"Just tell me what you want." He straight faced me.

"A burger and fries." I told him.

We got our food about seven minutes later and we began to eat in the sonic parting lot.

"I really am sorry I walked in on you. I know I should have knocked but.."

" You straight ma." 

"Ok, but can you not call me ma?" 

"Yeah, my bad." He took a bit of his food nodding at me.

"Can I ask you a question?"

"Yeah, shoot." He looked over at me giving me his uninvited attention.

"Why are you helping me?" I asked with all  seriousness.

"I honestly don't know. It's just this feeling I have telling me to help you." He shrugged. "Can I ask you a question?"

"Of course boss." I smiled shyly scared for his question he was going to ask.

"Ok now two questions." He chuckled. "Are you calling me boss because you don't know my name? Because my employees don't call me boss they call me Jay, so you can call me that but I like it when you call me boss." He smiled to himself making me smile. 

I didn't know what to say so I stayed quiet.

"My second question is how you end up homeless?" He got serious.

That was a question I was trying to avoid. 

"That's a long story." I tried stalling from answering the question.

"I got time."

A little boring but it's gonna get good soon.
