It's like listening to music
You can still see the world around you
You can still hear other people
But it effects your mood
it guides your thoughts
It can be loud almost unbearable
And sometimes it fades almost completely
It can make you tune out people or things
It can cause you to focus, on the music
It is immersive
It's hard to turn it off
Sometimes you can't
And when something truly terrible happens to you
It drowns out all reason
