"percy, i swear to the gods!" you laughed, body squirming in all angles on the grassy fields of camp half blood as the son of poseidon, kneeling next to you, prodded tickles on your sides. "stop it, i surrender! i surrender!" (y/n) yelled, successfully smacking one of percy's hands away before it made contact with your skin. "ouch, hey! no violence," he says, a smirk marring his lips as he retrieves his hands back to his sides. oh, how'd you love to wipe that smirk off his face.

"you suck." (y/n) retorted, your eyes closing as you try to regain your normal breathing. you hear the warm and low timbre of percy's laugh enter your ears, a sound that makes your heart accelerate to its fastest beats. fluttering your eyes open you were greeted by a pair of sea green eyes blending with your (e/c) ones and all of a sudden, you can't breathe.

that is, until an excited scream resounded across the fields of the camp, "PERCY!"

the said demigod breaks the eye-contact, though hesitantly, and flips his attention to the owner of the voice whilst getting up on his feet. grover, his best friend, was running towards him, arms flailing around in excitement.

while you, on the other hand, was finally able to breathe. pushing yourself off from the ground and onto your feet, you mentally scolded yourself for the incident earlier; get yourself together (y/n), you thought before walking to percy's side as he wait for the satyr.

"PERCY," grover yelled, finally catching up to the son of poseidon and putting a hand on his shoulder.

"woah, there man. breathe." percy advised, chuckling as he sees grover smiling from ear to ear. "what's gotten you so happy about?" percy asks.

"annabeth," grover began, and both you and percy perk up at the sound of athena's daughter's name, "she sent an iris message. they're almost home."

your shoulders drooped at the news. don't get (y/n) wrong, she's happy that annebeth is coming back safe and sound, but a part of her was devastated. devastated that reality is coming back once again to remind her that percy has annabeth and annabeth has percy. that they're the most renowned couple, most envied, most approved, the most inseparable, and in love couple in camp half blood.

percy was speechless, after three weeks of his girlfriend's absence due to a quest assigned for her, she was finally coming back home— finally coming back to him. "c'mon perce, let's go wait at the entrance. who knows, she'll be here soon," grover said.

"yeah! okay, uh. (y/n)–" percy started as he turns his attention to you.

"no, don't worry about cleaning up. i can manage it myself." you replied, a smile stretching your lips. "you sure?" the hero of olympus asked, his sea green eyes showing a hint of guilt.

"i promise, it's no problem," you began, "now, go get her, sea salt."

the said boy grinned, and as he starts to jog away with grover, he yelled out "i owe you, (y/n). you're the best!" and was off, taking a piece of your heart with him.

alone, you began to clean up the mess around the archery area. on the outside, you appear to be composed, calm, and reserved. when in truth, inside you were battling with yourself; percy isn't and will never be yours, (y/n). you're never good enough. you'll never be annabeth.

being in love with a guy who's heads over heels with the most perfect girlfriend, this is where you've always been— fixed at zero.
