Tessa

The girl standing there looked nervous but I could see how lethal she was, I saw the small silver knife she had tucked up the sleeve of her dress, I touched Luce's arm involuntarily shooting Darkness through him he stiffened I quickly drew it back my senses had been all over the show. I couldn’t think straight I couldn’t picture things, in my head and I was finding it hard to heal.

My father grabbed me by the wrist and towed me from the foyer, Luce look furious but I calmed him with a smile over my shoulder I then set the mask of impassiveness on my face.

“You will be kind to this girl her father is extremely important do you understand?”

“Yes sir,” I said my voice low and eyes cast to the window, he cracked his hand across my face I didn’t show any emotion just kept my eyes cast away, he gave such a tight squeeze of my wrist that I felt a bone crack, I released a tiny inaudible breath.

I wrenched my wrist from him and walked out of the room slamming the door hard behind me, I was about to go back over to where the others stood with a wide eyed brown haired girl looked at me as if I might pull out a gun and slay everyone in the room. To tell you the truth I wouldn’t have put it past me, I turned on my heel and walked up the marble stairs,

“Theresa!” the booming voice of my father’s voice travelled up to my I froze and turned on the spot to meet his gaze with such hostility he took the slightest step backwards.

“I'm watching,” his threat hit me to the core and slithered down my spine pressing fear into every inch of my body this displayed more hostility.

“I know cause’ you just that fucking tricky,” I said as he walked out the door he paused, sighed and carried on,

I groaned and sat on the steps Luce sauntered over to me, he sat next to me on the steps and wrapped a lazy arm around my shoulders,

“Are you all right?”

“Hmmm half left but I prefer to be ambidextrous on Tuesdays,” I said sarcastically

He sighed and rolled his eyes,

I heard Emaline laugh and something about it seemed innocent something worth protecting, it made me tense, I kept my hands firmly pressed together so Luce wouldn’t get suffocated with Darkness that was trying to leech out.

“Be nice to her she has a good soul you will see,” he whispered into my ear

“I can see that already,” I said implying Luce was a moron

He ran his hand through his hair and sighed I smiled it didn’t reach my eyes it was a little sadistic.

Xander walked over with her, there was obviously a connection he had his eyes glued to her he hung onto every syllable. I snorted at the look of Xand so venerable he is like a brother to me and I didn’t want him to get hurt, although he usually beats up any morons that hurt me Luce is usually just pissed.

I got up off the stairs and made an effort with the new girl,

“Hi sorry I was so… flat before,” I said with an effortlessly plastered fake smile,

“Yes she is a little…cold,” Luce, said, I shot him a narrowed eyed look he smiled

“Ah that’s okay,” she seemed uncomfortable, there was a beat of awkward silence

“Awkward,” Luce and I muttered at the same time, making us all laugh.

A cold shiver ran down my spine, one I knew all too well Luce and Xand noticed my sudden change in behaviour

“Excuse me a moment,” I said and walked soundlessly up the stairs and ran into my room, I was slowly losing control the Darkness was crushing me and I get violent bursts of anger.

The room I ran to was alien to me we had only just come here with my father last week, I ran around looking for something to help with this evil that was building up, but there was nothing.

I just sat in a corner and sipped on vodka until the feeling passed, alcohol numbs the senses to it is handy also I love vodka.

I walked back out the door and sensed they were in the library, I walked in and before Luce could see I hid the vodka behind a plant, he doesn’t like me drinking. Emaline saw me and we both smiled, I went and sat next to her,

“Sorry again for being stiff I'm not great at newbie welcoming thing,”

“Don’t worry I understand do you know what our fathers are up to?” she asked

A dark look crossed my face I didn’t bother hiding it,

“Yes and no doubt you will be introduce to it soon,” I didn’t elaborate Luce came over and reached out his hand to ask me get up, I took it reluctantly.

“I just sat down,” I said

“I really don’t care,” he said and pulled me into a big hug, “You’ve been drinking,” his arm was wrapped tight around me and I heard him sigh when I stiffened,

I pulled back and he looked at me deeply,

“Why?” his temper was rising fast,

“Because the sun rises in the morning that’s why,” sarcasm was heavy, he walked over to the window and took a few calming breaths, one last thing would set him off.

Emaline looked between, the annoyed Luce the sarcastic daring me, and Xavier giving me a don’t you dare look.

“Want some?” I asked

“You’re dead Nytefire,” he said chasing me I laughed and bolted out the door,

“Back up!” I called to the other two, whilst laughing madly
