"As I stuck two fingers in my mouth to whistle for Pucker, a quiet groan stopped me in my tracks. I pulled a Swiss Army knife from my left shoulder pocket and began to backtrack my way into the gas station I had just walked from. Being careful of any noise, I held the wind chime between my hand to keep it from making any unwanted noise as I opened the door. I walked back to where I had left my bag and cross bow. Reaching down to grab my Barnett Penetrator Crossbow, a gift for my 22nd birthday, 3 days before the world went bat shit crazy.

I took a seat upon the counter waiting for Pucker to walk up telling me the coast was clear. I sat and and waited for about 15 minutes till I heard a scratch on the window, Pucker was a beautiful dog, a caramel Rafeiro do Alentejo. His head reached about my belly button and he weighted close to 110 pounds. I was amazed his fat ass didn't break the glass the way he was leaning on it. The fact he had blood around his mouth told me the biter I had heard was now gone. I was never scared of losing pucker, he could hold his own, saved my ass more than once.

Due to it barely being midday, I quickly packed everything up and set out down the road from the small town I was raiding in what I do believe is Rural Georgia. After about a three hour walk through the bush. I heard moans and groans which could only belong to the undead. I turned to walk about but Pucker ran forward, sensing something I couldn't I guess. I ran out after him, lucky I did I guess, I found you lot."

Maggie just looked at me for a little while before she snapped out if it and laughed "luck, ain't got much a that no more"

I could tell this place was having some troubles, from what I could tell the group was rather tence, even the children looked at a down fall, what shocked me most was the when Maggie said she was going to lock me in a cell till some other people got back, for them to decide my fate and whether or not I could be trusted, I turned a corner and mealy walked face first into a lady, but what shocked me was her stomach. A few thoughts ran through my head, maybe she hadn't eating in a long time like the African children, anything but pregnant! Why would someone bring a child into this shit, especially so early on, wait 10 years, see if shit gets better. The lady looked very shocked to see me and her eyes held fear, but when she noticed Maggie she seemed to clam down a bit.
Maggie must have though she should say something to explain the random girl walking around.
"Lori it's a'ight, was just taken her to a cell, so when everyone got back we could have a meeting about her. Found her fighting off some walkers at the gate"

"Hi, I'm Cassidy"

"Oh hi, Lori" she pointed to herself. She seem a bit shocked at, well I'm going to assume my kind attitude.

"I don't know if you already have one, a doctor or anything, but before my my professor tried to eat me.... I was in school for midwife nursing?"
The second the word midwife came from my mouth Lori looked as though she would cry.
"Really? How far in was your schooling could you deliver a baby?"

"I've already assisted the delivery of 4 children, as part of my training. I won't lie, I'm not as good as a qualified nurse, But I'm better than nothing. I know my way around"

It was then that Lori decided that the cell would wait and she wanted to know as much as possible, I told her the basics, how far into school I got, about the previous baby delivers and those natured kind of things.

After about 20 minutes of discussion a young boy no older than 14 came running out.
"Maggie! Maggie! Hershel wants to talk to you!"
Maggie spun around so fast a panicked look on her face "What! Is something wrong? Is He okay?"
The boy looked confused for a moment then said "No.... He just said he wanted to talk"

Maggie just cocked her head and got up to walking into the building. The young boy, wearing a police hat walked over very cautiously, in which I was glad at. He had been raised to survive in this. To not trust strangers
" Mom, whose this" the young boy spoke to Lori, who I was now guessing was his mother, without his eyes leaving me once.
"Carl, this is Cassidy, she knows how to help people with their babies" Lori spoke
Carl almost looked angry.
"We don't need no babysitters!" he said crossing his arm over his chest
Lori laughed at the way Carl was acting yet me sitting over here was shitting bricks. This kid was like 12 yet scary as fuck, he even had a gun holster.
"No sweetie, like to help Mom get the baby out safely"
The young boy relaxed immediately with the mention of someone helping his younger sibling.
" oh, okay."
He walked over to me and reached a hand out
"I'm Carl"

Carl seemed to take a liking to me and kept trying to tell me about all the brave things he did, if I didn't know any better I would have said he was trying to impress me. Lori was more shocked than me telling me on the wall back to the cells, he isn't normally so chatty.

Maggie later took me the a cell which had a old man sitting inside

"This is my dad, since every other member is out on a run I though I should let you talk to him before we but you in a cell handcuffed"
They way she said the sentence I knew she though I was a good person and didn't deserve to be handcuffed in a cell, but I under stood doing whatever it takes to keep them safe, they were all family.
"Hello sir, I'm Cassidy kalliwell" I said with so much confidence I scared myself.
"Hi I'm Hershel Gre-"
Hershel was cut of mid sentence by Pucker who was trying to get his say.
"Sorry Hershel, this is pucker"
When we went outside to talk. I left Pucker in a unclaimed cell, which reminded me that I would have to introduce Pucker to Carl.
Hershel, Maggie and I didn't talk too long. Mostly about our medical background. Hershel decided to put me in the cell as it was hitting sun down and the group on a run would be back soon,He said his good byes and I handed over all my food, water and weaponry supply to the group. I wanted to prove I could help. This was the first group of people I had met since the dead stated walking to not rob me and leave me for the bitters.

Shortly after pulling the top bunk bed to the floor for Pucker and setting some things down I laid down to catch some sleep for an hour or so.
