Elizabeth had heard of her cousin's return to Scotland. The battle for the crown of England has only begun. Mary, being the granddaughter of one of Henry the VII's sisters, had the blood of the Tudors and right to claim the English throne. To Elizabeth, losing her crown was like losing your head. She couldn't bear it. She's struggled her whole life to finally sit on the throne and wear the crown. She wasn't going to allow her Scottish cousin to take it from her. It was for her by the will of her dead half sister, Mary Tudor. The again, Elizabeth had to lie to her dying sister to achieve her goal. Many English men wanted to get rid of her.
