Adrenaline (Delirious x Reader)

Nineteen

||Sly's POV||

It felt like the new face welcomed me with open arms but, it didn't seem real. Or honest. Like it was almost too good to be true. I thanked him and his expression turned into a slight grin. He seemed laid back but certainly not someone you'd want to mess with. Must be the head of the gang.

"Alright, The name's Vanoss. I mostly handle things around here." The male stood up and slammed his hands together in a clap. He was tall for sure but Delirious' height didn't differ that much. I nodded and felt slightly better with Delirious next to me. I noticed how Vanoss kept his sight on me. Like i would disappear into thin air if he looked away. We both were suspicious of each other and maybe that was a good thing.

I didn't blame him for his suspicion. He did his part protecting his friends and there i was, suddenly wandering into their home.

He stood in front of me and i took a breath. Slightly afraid he'd just cut me off and grab me, he was so close.

The grin on his face certainly matched his attitude. He stood high but somehow he didn't look too unfriendly. "The name is Sly. I took care of some of your members not long ago." I decided to put myself on his good side. There seemed to be a slight sparkle in his eyes but he didn't say anything. The silence was almost painful since every face in the room was turned to me.

"Sly fox, right." He finally broke the silence. "So you are going to take care of Mini until he's healed?" He put his hand to his chin as if he was thinking deeply about something.

"Well, yes." I answered all that i could bring out. Vanoss chuckled "I hope anyone has told you that you can't just randomly stay here."
My heart dropped to my feet. I was sure he would kill me after i was done with his friends.
The guy next to me tensed up, it had unnerved Delirious as much as it did to me. I had a bad feeling in my guts.

Delirious took a step foreword, something that was unexpected for me and apparently some of the faces looking at me pulled up their eyebrows too. It seemed like it wasn't something that happens often, but it seemed like something drove Delirious to it.
Protection?

I didn't believe it. My eyes went from Delirious to the others in the room. All of them changed the expression on their face, it turned into in slight worry and the expression on Moo's face was the worst. It looked like disappointment.

Vanoss ignored Delirious' movement as if he wasn't even there. "If you want to stay here, you'll have to take a test." He continued to explain. Somehow this seemed fair to me, but i didn't like the tone he had with it.

Delirious now interrupted him, which seemed like a bold move.
"You can't do that, she's not trained for something like that. And wouldn't last a second" He growled. That last part. Did he really see me as that weak? Helpless? It annoyed me that he said that, but he's not wrong. I am not trained for whatever is up ahead. I put a hand on his arm trying to calm him at least a bit. I just, wanted to hear what he had to say.

Delirious looked over his shoulder at me as he felt my hand on him. He let down his head a slight bit and stepped back. "I'm sorry but these are the rules, you out of everyone should know Delirious" Vanoss gazed back at me.  "Now, you're probably wondering what we're talking about." All i could do was nod.

"Every new gang member has to show their toughness when in combat, so what you'll have to do is complete something we call a 'Death Run'"

One part of me understood where it was coming from. People need skill to survive out here but what i lived from was pure luck. I was lost in words and Vanoss turned around. "Tomorrow at eight you get a training." He simply said and walked off.

Wildcat stepped my way "You'll do fine i'm sure." He gave encouragement and i tried to gave him a smile as thanks. "You don't have to think about it now, let me introduce you." He wrapped an arm around my shoulder and dragged me to the rest. "Terrorizer, Basically, Moo, Panda, Smitty, Ohm, Lui, Nogla." He said in one big breath and pointed at each guy.

They all had their own looks and that was interesting to say the least. They all greeted me and i immediately felt better. I liked the guys a lot and they seemed accepting of me too. "There is some food for you guys left." Moo pointed at the table. My stomach wanted me to run over and eat everything i could get my hands on. Wildcat let go of me "If you need anything we've got you." He said and joined his friends on their way upstairs.

Delirious stayed with me and i noticed Ohm went to sit at the table for some food. Delirious turned to me, "Listen, i know i've talked a lot of shit." I thought about his comment not long ago "Yeah, you have." I agreed. He shook his head and put his hands on mine. "I meant to say, is that i want you to stay with me. You have to win." A slight buzz formed in my stomach and i couldn't help my smile. My worry had been taken away for just a short while. I wanted exactly what he was telling me, i wanted to stay.

"I'll do my best."
